Just got back from a weekend in NYC!... I MET CHRISTINE LAHTI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's soooo weird though. I've met other celebs before and I've been like "Oh... yeah... I met them. It was awesome. They're great." Christine... Yeah nope. There's no way I met her. There's no way she was that awesome. But I have the pic to prove it!
Anyways... so I got there on Friday at like 9:30 though it took me til like 11:00 just to get to where I was staying, get settled and head back out lol. But first, I went back up to Times Square, wandered into Forever 21, got bored and left. Didn't feel like being around all the tourists there either. So annoying. I passed Joely Richardson at a crosswalk as I was leaving and I was like WTF?! Never have celeb sightings and that is the SECOND time I've seen her in the past six months. Got lunch at Two Boots in Grand Central... yummmmy pizza. Then I headed all the way back downtown to Canal Street so I could buy a new purse. Awesome place. Love it. Bounced back uptown again (yes I do things in a really weird order). Tried to go to Rockefeller Center. Missed it. Went up to 59th and 5th where the Apple Store has a little tribute set up to Steve Jobs. It's beautiful. Then I popped into FAO Schwartz and looked at all the fun things... then finally found Rock Center and the Lego Store there. Afterwards, I went to go meet my friend and I was on the subway when a "homeless" guy got on. He was in a motorized wheelchair and had two cast things on his leg and I figured he was a liar but I gave him a dollar anyway cuz he seemed interesting. He asked me to be his new girlfriend. I figured it was a game so I said of course. He then asked if he could buy me a hotel room. I was like *facepalm* I said no so he asked if we were taking things slow so I said yes. Then he asked what I was doing. I said going to see a friend. He asked my friend's name. I lied. He asked mine. I said "Miranda." I love whipping out that name. He then said "So Miranda, since you're my new girlfriend, will you give me a handjob?" I said no. He said the thing about taking it slow again. I said yes. He asked what stop we were getting off at... I said *I* was getting off in a few stops. He asked if I was rethinking the relationship. I said yes. He told me to have a good day and left. LMFAO I waited til his back was turned and he was up the car and got off a stop early. I was laughing as I walked away so the lady emptying trash cans looked at me like I was nuts. I'm sooo glad I paid a dollar for that story. But yeah... finally caught another train, got to the right place, and went with my friend to get Thai food XD
Saturday was egg sandwiches for breakfast before going to the tkts booth to get tkts for RENT. Oh. My. God. If you haven't seen that show, you HAVE to. It is AMAZING. I didn't think I'd like it without the OBC, but it really was fucking fabulous. Angel kicked ass! And Maureen was hysterical. Anyways... we also stumbled across a street fair going on which was great! Got to try deep fried Oreos. They were good but the flavors all kinda blended together. And we went to a little local farmer's market too.
Sunday.... there are no words for Sunday and the insanity/awesomeness. First, Leigh and I went to go pick up the tickets for "Dreams of Flying, Dreams of Falling" (Christine's play). We wandered for a bit, then went back to the apartment to meet up with our other friend and headed to brunch at Bar Americain. Miss Stephanie's Biscuits and Gravy. Epic deliciousness. Drank a wee bit. Left. Leigh and I wandered up to 59th. Stumbled across a Hispanic parade so we couldn't get across 5th to Apple or FAO. Wandered around til we found a bar called Rue 57 instead. Wandered in. Drank. Talked to a random chick sitting beside us. Finally braved 5th again. Got to the stores. Went BACK to Bar Americain. Drank more. Had the bartender tell us that it's been a while since he's had to make shots (aka, we're not classy XD) Realized it was getting close to the time of the play... had to try and flag the bartender down, then had to try and find a subway, THEN got lost and nearly couldn't find the theater. Literally slipped in like 30 seconds before the play started. I was in a daze the entire time because we were in the first row. Christine was RIGHT THERE. She was amaaaaaazing. So afterwards, we went outside and there were two doors the actors were coming out of so I was watching one and my friends were watching the other and suddenly they called my name and I whipped around and there she is. I was like OMG! So she saw me and came over because sadly there were only a few people out there. And I asked for an autograph and a pic and I babbled about how she was my hero and thanked her for playing strong women and being so consistently pro gay rights and she thanked me and asked my name and shook my hand and said it was nice to meet me. Then she totally wrapped her arm around me so we could take the pic so now I have an AMAZING picture with her that is my facebook profile pic and is never ever gonna change. She's even more beautiful in person and soooo sweet. So I babbled that she was my hero again before we finally left. Went and grabbed Indian food for dinner at this awesome little Indian place. My friends decided we had to see what they did for birthdays so they told them it was MY birthday so randomly this music started and the lights got dark and there was clapping and icecream was brought out for us all and I got to blow a candle out XD Then the night was unfortunately over :(
Today was just breakfast at this awesome place called Doughnut Plant. Then Leigh and I made our way to the courthouse and legit just sat there for an hour because it was beautiful out and sooooo soooo peaceful. I hated having to leave because it was so freaking relaxing and I totally felt all good about the world just sitting there. Not even sure why that place makes me feel so awesome... ok maybe I do... I mean SMarch AND Christine have totally graced those steps so it's like sitting where greatness stood... but yeahhhh. Then we went to Brother Jimmy's bbq and then I had to go leave :(((((((((
I MISS NYC SO MUCH ALREADY!
