She had promised to bring him flowers. Voile would have done it for anyone, really. As such, she didn't define it as special treatment. She didn't know what she defined it as aside from a breath of fresh air. Except hospitals weren't really fresh air. They were something, but not exactly... fresh air.

Flowers in hand, some of the pink and blue ones that Knuckles had brought from Angel Island, she showed herself in, gave a very polite nod to Nidoking and Notte. Then she closed the door after and smiled, "Professor. How are you feeling?"

"A WEEK?! What on God's green earth is wrong?!"

"Calm down, Mr. Moretti or I shall be forced to sic my eagle on you. This is mostly precautionary, but there was a small amount of damage to the optical center. Which explains your tunnel vision episodes and near constant blurred vision."

"Well...that last one's gotten better. I can see fine right in front of me..." He really didn't want to be stuck here for a week.

"Perhaps, but until the tests come back better, I'm afraid you need to stay here. We'll do more tests during the week, so if you rest...and stay calm don't freak out like a pansy, you will recover in no time." He went to check on the stitches as he said this, "Still in place and no problems...good. Alright, I'm going to be back with some stuff to care for those. I'll be right back." He bowed slightly to Voile, "Ma'am." and then exited as quickly as he had entered.

Giovanni was quite for a moment, then... "A WEEK!?"

She looked between the two, silent as ever as Giovanni once lost his composure. She hid a chuckle behind the palm of her hand and then slipped it with the other one and nodded a little. She could understand the frustration. If she'd been stuck on bed rest, it would have driven her crazy eventually, she was sure. Somehow it was only more than anticipated that Giovanni, a grown man, could easily grow restless.

What had Jake called it? Cabin fever, she thought. Giovanni Moretti would be suffering from cabin fever. She'd have to find a way to not make it so painful for him. Perhaps. If only she could find something that would help... If only she'd had an idea of what that could possibly be.

She watched Dr. Colbert and his eagle and amazing satire for America's political stance excuse himself and she waited until the door was closed before she shook her head at Giovanni.

"That's not the most becoming scene for a professor to make," she smiled.

Giovanni sighed as he recovered from his freak out. "I...I am sorry, Ms. Voile. I know I should calm down... I'm not used to dealing with people again. A year away from them...does something. I also don't like not being able to move around...certain things have influenced that. Just...is very, very, very uncomfortable, being cooped up." He traced the gold filigree on the cover of his book absently. The feel of dread was growing, he could feel the hair on his neck standing up as memories came back. He would go insane here. He just knew it. Notte walked over, sensing the major uneasy in his Daddy and cuddled up next to him. It helped only a little.

She nodded once, as though she understood. Well, of course she did. Giovanni didn't do much to hide his feelings and Voile often felt like she was reading a book. Her eyes would narrow. Her expression would grow serious with scrutiny and she'd become so utterly focused that the rest of the world just went away.

At least that's how it was in the company of one person without distractions.

Her demeanour grew gentle and nurturing once again, "Look at that. Notte is concerned about you."

Her quiet voice was a calming influence to the rush of emotion in his head, and it slipped in through the chaos into his core. He looked down, now aware of Notte's actions, and smiled. "It's alright, boy. I'll...I'll be okay." Almost said in rote, but petting the bird calmed him further. Notte cooed, leaning into his fingers, and his 'father' concentrated on petting him for a few minutes before he had steadied himself enough to speak to Voile again. "Yes, he...worries about me a lot, I think... Did I ever tell you how we met?"

It's okay, honey. Mine have been late, too. reservedempath May 2 2010, 19:39:14 UTC
Her expression softened and anything hard in her demeanour immediately faded away. Yes, there was something about seeing humans and Pokémon interact in a way that was almost familial in nature. It touched her heart, even reminded her of some things she didn't quite have herself, but in that moment she felt no envy she typically might have experienced. It was the situation in general. It was the predicament that Giovanni had found himself in that caused her to reassess everything.

Envy didn't fit the particular piece that the puzzle was missing.

"No. I haven't heard much about your escapades at all, Professor. It seems we've some time now, however. Why don't you tell me a little before I have to attend to some other things?"

"Alright. Well...goodness, how long ago...I suppose it was around eight months ago. I was in the wild as I had been for four or so months prior, in some of Johto's mountains. It was a mostly normal day, but as I was climbing down from a cave, there was a little Murkrow splayed out at the foot of a tree. He was absolutely tiny for his age, and wasn't in the best of shape. I don't know if he had been abandoned by a trainer or his flock, but he was in danger. So I took him in, actually went into town to have them look him over in the center, and after he was well enough to leave, I nursed him back to health myself. Thankfully he showed improvement extraordinarily quickly, and know he's about your average size for one. But...after so long of not seeing my family, he became like a son to me. That's why he's pretty much always out and about; I really can't bring myself to put him in a Pokeball. Only has one for the registration and for emergencies really ( ... )

"Some trainers are like that with their Pokémon," she admitted. Then she tipped her head to the side, "That kindness, I mean. Where the line between pet and friend becomes indistinguishable. I think that's my favourite kind of relationship."

Voile nodded slowly, as though to reassure herself of the rather uncertain words. Then she watched Giovanni idly and simply kept her words to herself for a moment. "Family and friends. That must be nice. It sounds nice." She smiled a little, "They certainly care and worry about you a lot."

Then she laced her hands together, "I don't see why they wouldn't. You're very kind to them. They respect you. They love you. They adore you. You may not always understand one another, but they have a dedication toward you uncommonly found. You must be an impeccable trainer."
