Voile was not a student. Not anymore. Not a student of Cyrus's, at any rate, but still a student nonetheless, and a very special person to Cyrus. Well, Voile liked to think she was special to him. She'd never really dived into that with him, wasn't really sure she wanted to, and felt like she could live well enough without traveling down that path with him.

It would result in nothing except chiding words and illogical nonsense. And Voile really liked the kind of illogical nonsense that Cyrus didn't care for.

Still, there she stood outside in all of her glory, a smile drawn across her face and hands slipped behind her back. Of course he'd know it was her. He'd know it the moment she poked her head in and...

"Oh, you're making tea. May I have some?"

Voile was there. He expected she might make an appearence and as such had bought a few bags of her favorite tea. "Voile. Come in; however, as you know, my priority will be with my students should any arrive while you are here."

There was nothing to betray his thoughts.

As if she was going to ask for any kind of special treatment... The thought that he had to remind her -- or felt that he had to made her chuckle a little. Unlike him, she had no reason to hide her mirth in the situation. While she couldn't leech anything off of him, she had the feeling that she wasn't missing anything important.

Yet.

"That's fine. I just came for the tea and the man behind it," she replied with a grand smile.

"Very well. There is plenty for all comers." He poured her a cup of hot water, left to the side, and steeped it with a tea bag. As it settled, he turned towards Voile. "I have been gone a while, it seems. Tell me, did they find what caused the transformations?"

Did... they actually find out? Voile wasn't sure. Some kind of magic spell gone wrong, perhaps. She honestly didn't have the answer and had to pause to think about it before even trying to respond.

"Ah... I don't actually know," she admitted with a laugh. "I don't think they settled on an real resolution, Cyrus." Then she gave an idle shrug of the shoulders and tip her head to the side. "Did you enjoy your vacation?"

"'Vacation' implies that it was for leisure. As you can see," here he gestured to the stacks of printouts and the active printer, "I was working to the utmost." But that was enough of that. He handed her the cup and poured one for himself, out of the kettle. "How curious, that nothing is known. Have the masses stopped wondering?"

"As you say," she conceded and offered him a secretive smile, as though she knew something he didn't.

Voile accepted the cup he offered to her and she tipped her head to the side thoughtfully, sniffing at it. She really loved it and felt it was something special that he'd specifically gotten tea he knew she would like. She felt special.

Then she blinked at him while taking a brief sip, "No. I keep seeing people touching on it. I'm sure even once something passes, people still wonder. Doesn't necessarily mean they'll voice that curiosity, however."

"I see." This time he moved to the window and stared out over the grounds. "A shame. The thirst to discover more is what has driven some of the most awe-inspiring discoveries of the ages."

"I'm sure not everyone has given up on gaining some knowledge. I managed to escape the situation unscathed. Those types of occurrences make me nervous about leaving my room. Guess that sounds silly, though. Ruled by uncertainty and doubt."

Then she stopped at his side and followed his gaze, "I'm positive not everyone has given up."

Her mention of her room only reminded him. "...Again, my arrival in your room was unintentional. Know that I would not spy on you as you changed, nor anyone else."

Oh...
That.

There was certainly no better way for Voile to lose temporary composure. A becoming shade of pink filled her cheeks and she remained eerily quiet for only a few moments. Then she laughed, "Oh, even if you were, your secret is quite safe with me. Perhaps you've some human in you after all."

"I am only human," he confirmed flatly, his back still to her. But at the confession, there was a twinge of sadness, longing, in his mind. "You know this."

She immediately softened and lifted a hand to press to his back. It never got old, being close to him, diving into the pool that was his soul. Never old and never unwanted on her end. Oh, how she must of tormented him.

"I adore you for your humanity. You only grow more becoming to me every day, Cyrus."

At her touch, he started, letting out a nearly inaudable gasp. What was she doing? "...Humans ought to be admirable. Yet so few are. The same is true for pokémon and all other species in creation." But he turned towards her, the disappointment brought by his previous statement covered over. "What do you believe?" he asked.

What did she believe...?

Voile thought about that momentarily. Every time he asked her something of the sort, it was anticipated that they were on different sides of the river looking longingly at each other and finding it difficult to come to a compromise. Proud men didn't bend for overly compassionate women.

"I think all people should be admired for the differences that distinguish them as people. There are some with evil intent that should not be admired for their actions or said intent, but could probably still be for their intellect. Imagine the mental exhaustion someone must go through to create schemes, especially with less than good intent."

Voile lifted her shoulders in a shrug and took a long drink of her tea, "I think just about every person could be admired for one reason or another."

"Then..." It took Cyrus a moment longer to reply than he wanted. "...if everyone is to be admired, why is the world in such a state?" By the time he concluded, his voice was at its usual strength. He turned to look at her. "Simply because they exhaust themselves does not mean they should be admired. Effort is meaningless in a lost or deplorable cause."
