Whether he had or had not been there, Voile still would have gone. Cyrus and the library were not mutually exclusive. She'd wanted to go simply because she'd wanted to. You couldn't get much simpler than that. But on the other hand, there was bound to be some amusement with whatever Cyrus was trying to discuss in his overly flowery speech.
She wasn't there to antagonise. She was simply there to observe him. Well, no. She was really simply there to do her own studying for her own classes. It'd do no well for her to fall behind, after all. Especially when she was doing well so far.
The problem was that sometimes the material was boring. Like weeds. Weeds were kind of boring.

And "overly flowery" was exactly what he would call his reading material. So many species to clip through, so many things to consider in trimming down the list of what was necessary for the world and what could simply be pulled.
There had to be variety, to avoid vulnerability to illness. He had filled two notebooks already by noon, and had only entirely eliminated thirty-four species as worthless. The rest confused him--surely they could be paired down but how?
Other than that, he was studying the makeup of the necessary plants, refeshing his memory on their survival mechanisms and if they could be adapted to other species.

He hadn't missed her eye. In fact, she was almost certain she could have passed him four times, perhaps without him even noticing her. After all, he was mostly into his books, or so it seemed. She hadn't been surprised in the least, at least up until she realised he was reading about flowers.
Briefly, she thought of the flowers they'd planted together. But only briefly.
Finally, she edged as inconspicuously as possible in his direction until she peered over his shoulder. Well. To the best of her ability (which wasn't much given his overwhelming height compared to hers). Either way, she simply meant to eavesdrop on his delightful book time.

She blinked and looked over her book. "I wanted to know what you're reading. And why. But unfortunately, if it's for your own homework, I have enough essays to write. So just indulge in me for the time being."

He nodded to the table, the stack of botany books. "I am refreshing my knowledge of the world of vegetation so that I will be fully able to create a balanced world."

"By..." she began with furrowed eyebrows, "planting flowers? Really? I mean, I do suppose they're important, but it's interesting you'd think of that."
She scratched at her chin. "What about the Gracidea?"
Re: August 27 - Future Dating Yay!will_be_godAugust 27 2011, 07:41:12 UTC
"While its purpose is largely ceremonial, owing to its importance to the minor grass deity Shaymin, it will be permitted as it serves to make fertile the soil. The roots of the Gracidea--" And he launched into an explaination of how the roots were specially suited to the soil of colder climates and how that would propigate other plant life. Not once did his tone change.

And the moment he went into it, Voile was pretty sure she sailed through outer space. In fact, if she'd been sitting, she probably would have fallen asleep. Certainly it was interesting information, but if he went on for too long, it was simply too easy to get bored.
She waited patiently until she was done, her head lilting all the while in one direction until it stung and it tilted the opposite way.

She wasn't listening. That was another fault of hers, another in a long list. "If memory serves, you were the one who inquired on the status of Gracidea flowers to begin with."
Re: August 27 - Future Dating Yay!reservedempathAugust 28 2011, 08:12:30 UTC
One thousand and one faults. Well, that's what she would have said if he'd chosen to bestow said list upon her. Faults made someone a person, but did not excuse them from bettering themselves.
"I'd actually only wanted to know if you were going to plant them in this new world of yours," she clarified for him.
Re: August 27 - Future Dating Yay!reservedempathAugust 28 2011, 08:39:52 UTC
"I thought I had. But surprise, surprise." She smiled as she settled a hand upon her hip. "Perspectives, Cyrus. Everyone views things in different ways, from words, to actions, to faiths, and so on. It's part of what makes us so interestingly unique."
Re: August 27 - Future Dating Yay!will_be_godAugust 28 2011, 08:44:09 UTC
"And yet our differences divide us to the point where we are unable to accept basic truths, or each other." He wrote something down, then turned to her again. "Some time ago I lent you a history book." At least he was pretty sure that it was her anyway. "Did you read it?"
Re: August 27 - Future Dating Yay!reservedempathAugust 28 2011, 08:53:24 UTC
She paused momentarily and rubbed the bridge of where her nose might have been. "Are you sure it was given to me?" she asked. "Undoubtedly, anything you would have given me, I would have looked at, but I've gotten little from you, minus a Gracidea flower that I have in my room by my window."
Re: August 27 - Future Dating Yay!will_be_godAugust 28 2011, 08:56:39 UTC
He wrote something else. "Admittedly I am uncertain. My attention, as you can see, is elsewhere. Yet we are in a library and thus you are able to access the vast history of this world. I invite you to do so now, and you may sit at this desk if you like." The desk was wide, with multiple chairs along it. "I believe there is much you must learn about where this world has led itself."
She wasn't there to antagonise. She was simply there to observe him. Well, no. She was really simply there to do her own studying for her own classes. It'd do no well for her to fall behind, after all. Especially when she was doing well so far.

After a moment he told her "...then you should have stated it directly."
