Whether he had or had not been there, Voile still would have gone. Cyrus and the library were not mutually exclusive. She'd wanted to go simply because she'd wanted to. You couldn't get much simpler than that. But on the other hand, there was bound to be some amusement with whatever Cyrus was trying to discuss in his overly flowery speech.
She wasn't there to antagonise. She was simply there to observe him. Well, no. She was really simply there to do her own studying for her own classes. It'd do no well for her to fall behind, after all. Especially when she was doing well so far.
The problem was that sometimes the material was boring. Like weeds. Weeds were kind of boring.

"I am actually here," she began, "to do some research for an essay I have to write. It's by mere coincidence that you and I should cross paths. Not that I'm objecting, mind you. Seeing you--"

He hadn't thought for a moment that she was there for him, but rather had assumed that she was there on her own. Sometimes even he forgot how unusual he had been as a child, that most people didn't go to libraries for their own amusement.
"...you as well," Cyrus confessed, turning back to his work.

She softened ever so slightly and withdrew her hand. "Yes, well. I suppose I ought to leave you to your work. Let me know if you need any help with Gracideas. I have one in my room that you can have if you need it."

"I had simply thought you were going to plant them in your new world." She folded her arms over her chest as she looked down to him, as if to piece things together. But no, Cyrus could never make it that easy for her.

Did he think she was stupid? A look of blatant annoyance crossed over her face. "I don't believe I implied they were the only plant species that the world contains."
Re: August 27 - Future Dating Yay!will_be_godAugust 31 2011, 01:27:09 UTC
"I am aware of that." She knew exactly how to irritate him. "Yet that is why I must continue my study on other species. You are quick to assume the worst of me, especially regarding my views of you, and you would do well to shed this paranoia."

"The responsibility lies not only with the one interpreting, but the one attempting to convey the message." And he should have gotten that well enough without her spelling it out like he was five.
"All the same, I'll leave you to your studies, Cyrus. Best of luck. I'm sure you'll do fine."

And he had conveyed that message quite clearly. He knew she could be quite intelligent, so her obstanance struck even harder. She had no excuse. "'Fine' is unacceptable. It will be perfect."

Voile stopped behind him and eyed him for a few moments longer, "You do not despise me?"
