Caim had seen Vinnie many times. It seemed the green-haired man was almost there constantly and for a period of time, Caerleon's prince believed Vinnie might have lived in there. To be fair, it wasn't uncomfortable. Sure, wearing Riley's turtleneck made things a little warmer than he wanted them to be, but Caim seemed to understand that the heat was really for the plants in order to help them continue to thrive.
Why hadn't no one thought of that back in the homeland?
All the same, this Vinnie was a strange one, indeed. Talking to the plants, it seemed. Caim knew nothing of science, and didn't understand that the air released onto plants by speaking or exhaling was actually beneficial. All he saw was a slightly mentally challenged man confiding in green flora. On the other hand, for all of his instabilities, Caim couldn't exactly cast judgement.
But he could follow Vinnie around inconspicuously and hide amongst the more bushier plants while the Venusaur lost himself in his green paradise.

Today, Vinnie had brought a small book along with him. It seemed like he had a plan of action, because he headed straight for a small bush with lavender leaves that had been planted not too long ago in the garden. Delicate white flowers had begun to blossom. He sat down in the dirt in front of the young plant, and flipped to one of the many dog eared pages in his book.
Even from a distance, it was easy to overhear him speaking through the silence. "I think I settled on one for you. Took long enough... What do you think of 'Haruka'? It's gonna take some getting used to, I know. I went through that, don't worry. I think it suits you, though."

Caim had been very quiet, mostly so he could hear what Vinnie was saying. From what he gathered, it seemed he was naming his flowers. While Caim wouldn't have done it personally, he could easily see his sister falling into that pattern. And that gave him a bit of an idea. If Vinnie was naming flowers, and the bush was rather pretty in all of its flowering glory...
He emerged from the foliage he'd hidden himself in and stopped behind Vinnie. Then he leaned over to get a better look at the bush in question. Perhaps he should name some of the flowers as well. Or the bushes, he supposed. Whichever it was that Vinnie had gotten caught up in.

Vinnie might have been wrapped up in his babyname book, but not so much that he would miss the crunch of feet against soil behind him. He turned to glance at whoever this stranger might've been, actually quite surprised to realize that anyone would've been interested enough to peer over his shoulder. When had this guy even entered the greenhouse? Had he been here all this time, or was he just that quiet?
Not even a word of hello. The Venusaur really couldn't recall seeing the man's face around the school before, either. Confused, and slightly unnerved, he raised a brow and muttered, "Y'need something?"

Even if he could have spoken, Caim probably wouldn't have said anything. Greetings just weren't his kind of thing. Never really had been. And if he was going to do any sort of greeting, it was probably just going to be a wave or a subtle nod. At least he was polite.
Caim looked between Vinnie and the bush he'd been speaking to with the pretty flowers. Then he scribbled down into his notepad before showing it.
"I was curious as to what you are doing."
Not that he wasn't allowed to be there. Caim just hadn't seen anyone ever name flowers before. It was strangely intriguing, even though it was nothing Caim ever personally would have done.
