Is it September already?!

In the wake of DF18, my inspiration continues and I became even more energized before, during and after my mini Norcal deco party with Angela and Elekta at our apt this past weekend.  As always, we had a terrific time and I can't wait for our next gathering!

Here are the scans to show it

Lamp theme.  I actually have a mod lamp stamper that I tried to use but unfortunately it didn't work very well due to the bumpy page behind mine.

Green theme.

Go fuck yourself theme, lol.

Creeper theme.

My page in Carmen's DF18 deco.  It didn't scan very well because of the 3-D glitter dots I used.

Bite theme.

Animal theme.

Thanks for looking!

In other news, last month we attended the APS stamp show in Columbus, OH (of all places).  I spent the vast majority of the trip visiting Dante's family's deli and restaurant, Carfagna's.  Xena really enjoyed it.  She's flown over 20,000 miles at this point and is already a seasoned veteran.

Xena is crawling all over the place now.  She follows me around the house like a funky inchworm.

I just joined a bookclub with 3 of the women from my knitting meet up.  Our current book is America is not the Heart by Elaine Castillo.  It's a snapshot of Filipino culture in the Bay Area in the 90s and I'm thoroughly enjoying it!  (Even though I'm not Filipina, it's a total flashback of when I first moved here in 1996 and I worked with an office full of Filipinos downtown).  The 90s were my first real exposure to Filipino culture.  The current focus of my stamp collection is the postal history of the 8c Ramon Magsaysay stamp.  While researching my covers and history of Magsaysay, I've become even more immersed in Filipino history and culture.  Next week our club will meet up at a cafe in Daly City to discuss our thoughts on the book and I can't wait!

Next weekend Matt is flying to Houston to pick up a major addition to my Champions of Liberty postal history collection (including some fantastic 8c Magsaysay specimens).  The size and value is so considerable that it's better for him to pick it up than to have it shipped.  That means I'll be home alone with Xena all weekend.  Since I'm home alone with her all day, it won't be much different than usual although I'm quite looking forward to just having some quality time completely to ourselves where I don't have to plan Matt's meals or organize any of his shit.  Most people already know that my husband is a giant messy baby.  I love him but taking care of him is exhausting.

Then at the end of the month, I'm flying to NYC for a wild weekend all to myself to DJ at the Subway Soul Club at Ceremony in Brooklyn (Sept 29).  Matt's taking Xena to visit his family in Boston while I'm away, IMHO because he's too paranoid to try taking care of her for a wknd by himself.  Anyway, I've booked myself into a cute boutique hotel in Tribeca and I have no shortage of mischief planned for 2 1/2 baby-free days!

But speaking of the little one.  It's time to feed her breakfast and then we'll take a stroll down to Whole Foods to pick up some groceries for dinner.  I'm trying out a new slow cooker green beans recipe from one of my new favorite cookbooks, The Chef and the Slow Cooker by Hugh Acheson.  Ah, mom life!
