and even if springfield is/was a terrible place, i don't see how that would change worcester's status. Springfield is a varied and beautiful city, with many claims to fame. It's the city of firsts, and on the top 25 most dangerous cities.
why do people notice worcester? I have, in my entire life, heard two things about worcester "worcester sucks" and/or "i live in worcester"
now, i'm not saying that worcester sucks. i was just wondering if people said anything about worcester besides one of those two statements.
finally, i heard worcester is just jealous that springfield is bigger than it, and that people talk about boston and springfield and just skip over worcester.
I always just hear people say that Worcester sucks. And since when is being in the top 25 most dangerous cities a good thing? I think a lot of people who say Worcester sucks don't know much about it. They've never been to Coney Island, University Park, or the many wonderful restaurants of Worcester (111 Chop House, The Sole Proprietor, Vinny T's, Dino's, etc). UMass Hospital's University campus is consistently in the top five hospitals for primary care education and they have some of the most talented surgeons, specialists, and nurses around. People get life-flighted there from all over Massachusetts

well clearly being a very dangerous city isnt a good thing, but i was putting it out there as a defining characteristic. it certainly doesnt attract tourists. And you're right, i think alot of people havent been to many of those places. I also have heard good things about that umass, but everyone i have known that needed to be flown somewhere, have been flown to boston. so that's crazy

Maybe we should take each other around our respective cities so we can enjoy the greater qualities of all major cities in Massachusetts.
I think what made me really notice that Springfield seemed crappier than Worcester was that it seemed to have many more run-down buildings. But that may have just been the area I was in...and I did see some nicer parts of the city too. Springfield did have like 20 million places to eat I noticed. And there's an Olive Garden which is like my favorite place ever.
why can't we all just get along? seriously though, i think it depends on which city you spend more time in. i always feel pretty comfortable in sprinfield, even when i'm lost and in not the best part. but whenever i go to worcester i get really stressed out, and basically i hate it there. but my friends who go to worcester more, hate springfield. so in short i like springfield better but that's just because my family is from there.
