Okay, you don't want to let the pigeons roost. You will end up with pigeon poop everywhere...and that contains over 60 potentially fatal diseases that I assume you want nothing to do with. The best bet is to invest in a product, maybe a visual device or physical barrier to keep them away, but not kill them. Companies such as Bird-X, Inc. offer a lot of really effective options that are completely safe for the pigeons and the environment. Get a product or two and those pigeons will find somewhere else to hatch, which won't disrupt your bbq area :)
