The Maltese Falcon, by Dashiell Hammet, is a very...interesting book. It is a detective story, with all that that entails. It has a main character detective who seems, very often, to know more than he should. He also seems to know what to do and when to do it.

Also, the way Dashiell Hammet describes things is...kind of weird, I'm afraid. He
