so once again, norton asked me to renew my subscription key. often I've heard people bitch about how bad norton is, how it doesn't catch anything, and how it's such a memory hog. Taking this negative word of mouth to heart, I bought the 2008 version of Trend's Internet security suite. I had it on my PC for about... 24 hours, then I REMOVED IT. ( Read more... )

funny, every time I hear someone complain about their WoW or FFXI account being hijacked and stripped/sold, they're running AVG. first time the Iframe exploit or the flash exploit tried to install on my PC, norton stopped it.

Wouldnt know about that I've nevereven encountered any of those. From my technical job I had with Dell though I learned to loathe Norton and Macafee more and more.

I agree with you on Macafee. that was on my family's first PC and it ground it to a halt. I think the biggest problem people have with most AV software is they don't know when to turn it off.

Oddly enough, Trend is on Theresa's PC and it runs perfectly. Maybe my PC is too old but I find that more often then not, people tend to have that 1 AV provider that works for them and no one else.

McAfee is the piece of crap one. Norton is okay. Though, I've been using Rising Anti-virus and it's worked beautifully on my system. Checks for viruses daily unless I turn it off.
