Questions from Connor

1. When did you really lose your faith?

...You're going to have to be more specific than that. Faith in what? If you're referring to faith in God, I've never had that.

2. Can you play any instruments?

Yes.

...sigh. Piano reasonably well; I received instruction in other instruments but it didn't take as well. I can probably manage some simple tunes on a violin, but on the other hand, it's been at least twenty years since I touched one, so...

3. Exactly how many ties do you have?

Forty at last count. I do unfortunately seem to ruin a lot of them at crime scenes.

4. What impact do you hope to have on the world or how would you change it?

Two very different questions, especially if you mean the latter in the sense of how would I like the world to be changed. I'd like it if a genuine and impartial meritocracy was instituted, if the education system was completely overhauled, if the 90% of the world that professes some religion would actually follow the ethics those religions espouse, if cures for cancer and AIDS were developed, if the President and other elected officials, after their terms were up, were put in a room with 100 randomly picked Americans who could legally do whatever they liked to them up to and including murder, and if every corner cafe carried 100% pure Kona blend-- but these are unlikely to happen, and extremely unlikely to be my personal legacy.

I'd like my impact to be that there are people alive who wouldn't be if I hadn't done my job.

5. How does your first impression of us differ from how you think of us now?

Well, at first meeting I thought you were likeable Irish bastards, workaday Joes who were clever and decent and sane and filled with good cheer for most of the world. And these days I am buried under a mountain of paperwork pertaining to the bodies of men you and your brother have killed because a voice in your head tells you to. So I suppose you could say it's gone downhill.
