It's like September 12th at Microsoft today

Every conversation includes "Is everyone you know OK?" and there's this weird feeling of dread and foreboding in the air. It sucks.

The beatings will continue until morale improves.

Some analyists are whining that the layoffs didn't go far enough. Considering what you describe and that MS will soon be competing for people again, I think the analysts are full of it.

I especially love the fact that they'll be HIRING 1000 people in a bit--at MUCH lower rates. Of course, we don't get to have a note from them explaining to the people we owe money to that "things are tight all over, so you'll have to accept lower payments from so-and-so because we're paying them less." No, in fact, we're paying more.

Bah.

How many conversations actually include "No, everyone I know is NOT OK." ?? Who is actually ADMITTING they know someone not OK?
