Been accepted to University of South Carolina's PhD program (tuition would be waived and would get $20,000/yr to live on from some kind of assistantship).  Also have acceptance for TX Women's U.  (But their open house isn't til 3/6.)  I'm supposed to pick b/w two as soon as I get two offers, but I can't really til I actually go to TWU ( Read more... )

Woo! Smell you, Nancy Drew. Looks like your jet-setting is paying off. So far U of SC sounds like a good deal. Tuition waived? Yes please! Plus, on a superficial note, South Carolina is a beautiful state. With you there, Jason and I at opposite ends of the middle, and Andy in California, we're taking over the US. That is, of course, if you go there. You're getting options out the wazoo.

Awesome, seriously does sound like all those hours are paying off. Take that Prof Mestan's bitchy assistant (Brook?)!

Sounds to me like USC is the top choice right now. What city is it in? How were the people in the program that you met?

Yeah thank god I didn't try to volunteer in that lab again. That would have all been for nothing. Columbia, SC. Not a bad town. Kinda small but I liked it. Seems similar in climate to Austin ( ... )

So, first you become super hot physically and now all these universities are like, "omg, hot gurl, you come with us now, kthx!"

That's right, you saucy minx, you get those offers (and then some!).

After reading the other comments, I have to say that USC sounds good (yay money!), but your last comment does concern me. I don't really think the professor would flake, but if he's the only one then you probably wouldn't get as well-rounded an education as you might were you to go somewhere else. Even if you don't work with any other professors, having others there that are doing different studies would be good for you to see how they differ and solidify more of your own beliefs and hypotheses.

The money's great, but I think you're doing the right thing in waiting on Rutgers and the others.

Aww, so proud of you. You are totally kicking ass.
