*brother *soldier *caregiver (idk a word for what I;m thinking here, exactly, I've just been having a lot of feelings about Dean and Sam and John, and how Dean filled a parent role for Sam, but it wasn't as a father figure because John was undeniably the father figure, and Dean was filling more traditionally maternal roles for a lot of Sam's childhood and idk, I'm just really fascinated by this, okay I'm done). *tired *entirely-too-attractive-I-mean-damn
Nurturer maybe? I know exactly what you mean, I was trying to think of a word that meant the same thing earlier when I was making up hypothetical lists, but I wasn't sure if nurturer sounded too...soft? Purposeful? Cause I don't think Dean raised him with particular nurturing intent. It was just part of life.

Ack, my heart.

Word. "Kissalicious" also comes to mind. Or other less PG-rated things.

Exactly. Which is why I find the whole thing really interesting. It wasn't something he did on purpose, but it became such an intrinsic part of him, and it carried over into adulthood and people beyond Sam. I don't think it's something Dean is even completely aware of, but he is absolutely a nurturing person. So I guess nurturer works? Idk.
