It's not really much explained. But I do know somehow it is linked to the marks we have. I can't explain myself what this coral does, I don't understand it myself.

The only thing I can say is that it's probably eating out our energy or something. I think I heard that somewhere. Kinda explains why our powers are all funky and stuff. I don't know much about it but if we gotta investigate it further then I'm down for it.
