He's slumped against the kitchen floor, his back resting gingerly against the counter. He knows he's leaving blood on it but he doesn't care. It can be taken care of later. Right now he's just trying to relax and be grateful hes home ( Read more... )

It's only a few minutes before Peter's following Elizabeth down the stairs and into the kitchen. Peter stops in the doorway for a second, glancing down at Neal, before he goes into the cabinet to grab the first aid kit and a washcloth.

"Should we call the hospital?" he asks, directing the question at Elizabeth as he runs the washcloth under the tap. He's well aware that Neal will say no, whether he needs it or not.

He kneels down in front of Neal, and reaches out to take the shirt from him and start cleaning him up, if he'll allow it.

"I don't know," Elizabeth admits. "I really don't know."

"Guys, I just need a few bandages," Neal says from his spot on the floor. "We can take care of it here."

Elizabeth gives him a skeptical look. "Sweetie, you have no opinion in this anymore."

Neal scowls but his attention is derailed once Peter moves to stat cleaning him up. He visibly tenses, reaching out for the washcloth then withdraws his hand. He can let Peter do this, nothing will come of it.

Elizabeth starts pulling down the necessary items from the first aid cabinet (it really did become a cabinet after a while, not just a space in it), and looks to Peter. "Let's just get him cleaned up," she decides. "Then we can see if he should go."

"I don--"

But Elizabeth looks down at him and he quiets.

Peter stops moving when Neal tenses, and waits. He's come to expect that Neal will try to take over most of the time, but he prefers it when he lets them. Still, he can't say he doesn't understand the reasoning and he usually doesn't stop Neal if he tries to do it himself, unless it's particularly bad.

It's a relief when Neal withdraws his hand and Peter can continue, studying the wounds as the blood is washed away.

He glances over at Elizabeth briefly, nodding at her assessment, before turning his focus back onto Neal, silently continuing to clean off what he can and starting to bandage off the wounds.

"Lean forward," he says after a few minutes, glancing up at Neal.

Elizabeth watches, leaning against the kitchen door as she tries to asses the wounds from her position. If she had her way, they would probably go just to be safe but she knows that hospital visits are usually tricky and Neal is never exactly comfortable.

However, sometimes it's just necessary.

Neal remains still as Peter wipes away at the blood, not saying anything and barely even moving. Occasionally he winces but that's it. Its only when Peter asks him to lean forward that Neal gets uncomfortable.

"I can do it," he says, staying where he is, even pressing his back against the cabinet a little more. "Don't worry about it."
