Wh000t Em! what a great surprise! *loves you*
I loved the emotional talk between Ennis and Janie, it was perfect. :) I loved her shy smile and it was good seeing this other side of her. Poor poor Nick, I feel so sorry for him and for her, I'm so glad they have Ennis around, he's so good for both of them. :) Hope he gets to the snickerdoodles in time! - what the hell are they?? LOL or did you just make that up?? LOL

Jack coming out for Christmas to spend time with Ennis is just perfect! *claps hands* Their phone call was so emotional, so beautiful, I loved this:

This was real, washed clean, shiny and pure and sparkling with honesty.

And this made me giggle! I can hardly believe Ennis said that! LOL.

“I bet yer percolator’s gettin’ perky right now, ain’t it?”Your Randall is downright creepy :( and I'm really relieved Lureen saved the day! She was great ( ... )

Snickerdoodles are very real! My husband loves them!

This is my late mother-in-law's recipe:

1 cup butter
2/3 cup brown sugar
1 beaten egg
2-1/2 cups flour
1/2 teasp grated lemon peel
3/4 tesp crushed cardamom
1/2 cup ground almonds
1 cup currants
powdered sugar to dust with

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F; cream butter. blend in suger, beating with a spoon until frothy. Whip in the beaten egg. Stir peel, cardamom, almonds and currants into the flour. Beat the dry mixture into the sweetened butter. Chill dough for at least one hour.

Using well-floured fingers, separate dough into small balls (about 1 inch diameter), then shape into crescents, placing them 1 inch apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake 7-10 minutes until light golden, cool on racks, then dust with powdered sugar.

I think Pepperidge Farm makes them commercially, but of course the home-made are best -- because of the secret ingredient....

Oh yay! You posted a recipe! Thanks. I've never used cardamon, always cinammon. I've got to try that! I have a friend who makes the best cinnamon rolls and cardamon is her secret ingredient! Damn, now you've made me crave Snickerdoodles. *races out the back door to try to beat Ennis and Nick to Janie's sewing basket.*

Whew! Thanks for letting me know the Ennis/Janie talk worked for you. I've been building their relationship very slowly and it felt good to let some of the affection they're beginning to feel for each other shine through. As for the percolators...well let's just say...they'll be dripping for quite some time! xx Em

Wow! What a chapter! I can't wait to see how Ennis entertains Jack during his visit to Kansas. Hee! Hee! Three things - One and Two - how are Janie and Missy going to react when they learn about Jack, and Ennis' true feelings for him? Both are very opinionated women, make that bossy! Is Missy going to cut him off? Is Janie going to throw him out or forbid Jack to ever be at the ranch? Ennis might not like it but he can do without Missy, and Janie has to know the ranch wouldn't run nearly as well without Ennis.
Now Randall!!! Jack has figured out Randall has a more than 'friendly' interest in him, and he needs to let Randall know in no uncertain terms that Jack is NOT interested and to keep away before he gets into some trouble he can't handle.
If Randall makes a move on Jack, catches him drunk, sad, missing Ennis, whatever....it's just too much!
Thanks. Carole

Hey Carole: Let's see, One and Two...can't answer. Three...can't answer. But I'm so happy that you've put so much thought into this and are intrigued. Oh yes, I can tell you this...Jack can handle himself VERY well, ESPECIALLY around Randall. xx Em

Hey Fairy: Thank you. Hope you've "recovered" from the experience of sleeping with three hunky men on the weekend. Oh and riding those horses with a low (or high?) startle point. ♥ Em

Ohhh... this was so good. I'm glad I'm not the only one into tantric slash these days. I always feel like i'm disappointing when i don't deliver the goods, but this wasn't disappointing at all. NOT that i'm not looking forward to some perculating, i surely am, but this was all good too.... bits of their life, getting them slowly and surely where they need to be. I'm so glad you are still writing this story. Big hugs. S!

Oh wow I feel so guilty, all the times I've threatened slash ninjas on you for not delivering the goods! lol. Slash karma. It's just...well...to everything there's a season. I'm equally glad you're still reading this story! ♥ Em
