Thank you, I take my cue very seriously. :p Sorry about the heart-ripping thing. That's why I kind of did this in little doses. I just thought it was interesting to explore this... what would it be like once they reached the stage where they can't be comfortable in their current life, but hadn't quite gotten to their new life. Thanks for your constant support. xx

Loved these snippets, in spite of their sadness. Reminds me of the snapshots we see in the beginning of the movie as the camera glimpses Ennis through the gaps in the train as it rolls on by. Kind of like how Ennis and Jack are letting their life roll on by as they sit there and watch it. Get up and move, boys! Hop on that train and ride it somewhere!

Favoritist line: Seems he was better suited to keeping the home fires burning. Nice subtle reminder that Jack was always the one to keep the relationship going.

You're so good at this. Can I be you when I grow up?

Oh honey, no growing up needed. You're fantastic at what you do and you have way more fans than I do, you dummy. Sheesh.

Love the train analogy, absolutely right. And so glad you liked that line. I love those illuminating moments that come about doing simple things.

So, this was the chapter format I was going to suggest for PC because you'd said you were having such trouble with it. Mostly because your drabbles are always so lovely so I thought this would be a good way to help you get a handle on your chapter. Since you did just fine without me, I decided to punk the idea and keep it for myself. The pebble in the shoe came to me while I was betaing your chapter as well. Don't know why, it just popped in my head. lol. So thanks for inadvertently sporking my random thoughts! Much love to my Effy. From your Emmy.

I love this! It's a beautiful way for us to get some of Jack and Ennis and keep the story flowing.

Guess it was possible for stuff to fall off the ledge and not shatter to bits and pieces.

Oh. Dear. Lord.

Unless you had someone depending on you. Then you’d do whatever you could to get away from that bear, dust yourself off, and drag yourself, broken and bleeding, back to camp.

Seriously. Are you trying to kill me here?

He stared up at the ceiling and thought about how easy it was to clear that space on his dinner pate. Just move a few things aside and there it was, an open space, ready to take whatever was being dished up. So many open spaces in his life now.

I mean really. I might as well just pack it in.

So he trod on the pebble and received the hurt it caused with gratitude, wondering if he would ever feel warm again.Oops, no, you had one more in you. Now I can call it quits ( ... )

Oh Teri, my darling, you don't need to look up to anyone. Which is why I'm so chuffed you enjoyed this chapter; your high regard is quite a compliment coming from a writer as talented as you. Much love back, my friend. Em

Read both parts, you really did a great job with Nick finally baring his soul when it came to his guilt over what happened in Nam. and him discovering he is gay.

It's time Nick tells his sister and for Ennis to finally tell Jack he can't live without him.

I liked how Jack was looking at the family tree and was imagining whose name he'd put into the box (ENNIS :D, that is his family)

it's sad it's coming to an end but what a wonderful story

Thanks, Linda, so very much for coming along for the ride. As a talented writer yourself, you must know how readers provide that extra little push that's needed to finish what was started. Although we're coming to an end, it's as much your accomplishment as it is mine. Plus the end will be very satisfying indeeed! (I hope) Hugs back, Em
