Great look at Jack and Lureen. She's always seemed to me to be the stronger woman in the lives of the two men. She may never totally forgive Jack but I think she will always hold him in her heart a little.
Can't wait for the reunion. Both men have pride and fear to swallow, and love to rekindle into the blaze between them.
Thanks. Carole

Oh I love what you say about Lureen holding Jack in her heart a little. Although it's an incredibly painful scene, I love how when Lureen says the "bluebirds sing" line rather sarcastically, she has a sheen of tears in her eyes. It always seems to me that despite what she said, she mourned his loss deeply. As for the reunion, the word "blaze" is a great word! Thanks for all your wonderful comments. xx Em

That Lureen sure is a spitfire. I'm glad Jack was forced to confront the magnitude of just what this decision would have on his family, and that he broke down, showing that he's confused and needing help too.... the memories of his father are still hurting him and haunting him in his dreams. I think Lureen helped by getting it into his fool head that Ennis wasn't rejecting him or trying to grind him into the dust like his father. But I still think that only Ennis has the power to really assuage Jack's fears and insecurities, by showing him just how much he's loved and cared for now. And I hope Jack gets back up there soon to dance in his man's arms! I do think that was the meaning of the dream, in which young Ennis promises that he'll take him to a place where Jack's father can't get him either.... it's a reflection that older Ennis will understand that Jack is afraid too, and that he needs to find a place where he can feel safe from what haunts him.... and now I hope Jack will discover that place in the new home that Ennis has ( ... )

Yes, spitfire, that's Lureen all right. This chapter was a bit difficult to write because I didn't want to gloss over the end of Jack and Lureen's marriage, and the impact their divorce will have on Bobby, but I didn't want to get too bogged down in that storyline because I wanted the focus to be on Jack and Ennis. I'm happy with the way this chapter worked out in the end, phew! You're absolutely right when you say this: But I still think that only Ennis has the power to really assuage Jack's fears and insecurities, by showing him just how much he's loved and cared for now. Couldn't have said it better myself. Thanks for your insight and your support. xx Em

Thank you, auntie, for this beautiful lesson of love ! And it came from Lureen, teaching Jack to love himself first, to be able to love do his best by all around him !
Cannot wait to see them back together, this time for good !! Thank you so much, Em !!
