Yoochun leads Junsu into his apartment’s backyard, and he says softly, “I’ve wanted to show you this since the first day I moved in.”
Junsu looks around, trying to take in the beautiful sight of the star-filled sky, the fragrance that seems to be released only at a certain time of day, the black and white-ness of the world around him, and the view of the man beside him with lights twinkling in his black hair all at the same time. He smiles, more at the sight of Yoochun next to him than anything else. “It’s beautiful, Yoochun-ah,” he murmurs. He holds his hand out and takes hold of Yoochun’s, gently playing with his fingers as he interlocks their hands together.
Yoochun guides Junsu around, quietly pointing out this flower and that plant, look, doesn’t it look so different in the moonlight?
Junsu nods, says yes, agrees, while his eyes are focused upon Yoochun’s smiles and the crinkles in the corner of his eyes. He suddenly hears music coming from the room above; it sounds like classical music, and his eyes light up, feeling the urge to dance all of a sudden.
Yoochun seems to share the same urge as, letting go of their hands, he bows with a flourish, smiling. “Would you like to dance?” he asks, teasing.
Junsu beams, and he places his hand into Yoochun’s warm palm and places his other onto his shoulder. They start to move with the music, twirling and gliding with the ease of what so many choreography lessons have given them.
He begins to hum the music’s melody; Yoochun almost immediately sings the counterpart. Their voices rise and fall together, intertwining until they almost couldn’t tell which voice was whose. They both end on a note of longing, gazing into each other’s eyes, holding the last note for as long as they can, until their voices finally fade into the night, leaving only its memory behind.
Before going back in, they share a kiss; it’s full of all the wonder and delight the night had given them. Yoochun whispers, as he breaks the kiss, “Must you leave?”
Junsu smiles wistfully, wishing he could stay, yet knowing at the same time he couldn’t. “I have to,” he sighs. “Unless you want to come with me back to the others’ apartment?” he asks hopefully.
Yoochun shakes his head. “I can’t. My umma wants me to stay with her tonight since Yoohwan is sleeping over at a friend’s house.”
“Well then,” Junsu says, softly. “I guess I really do have to leave.” He takes a step away, another, and another, before he turns to look back. Yoochun’s standing at the same spot he left him, looking as bereft as he’ll ever look.
Junsu gives a look of regret, and whispers, “I’ll be back tomorrow morning, early, to wake you up.” He knows Yoochun will hear him.
He turns back around and continues to walk away, waiting for tomorrow to come.
