Tonight I finally finished LIES AND THE LYING LIARS WHO TELL THEM, sitting in the bathtub wrapped in blankets, because the bathroom is the only well-heated portion of my apartment. Its actually a fairly solid book, though I don’t like liberalism over-much, know nothing about the author, Al Franken, and find the genre, a confusing package of humor

It's true. Michael Moore really does suck a donkey's ass. Though he did endorse Clark, ducking his instinct, which was to endorse Kucinich, so props for that. But really, "Bowling for Columbine" consisted entirely of lies and distortions, which undercut his point, which was never very clear anyway. As I understood it, his message wasn't so much "guns kill people" or even "people kill people" as it was "Americans kill people, because they are a uniquely fearful, prejudiced, and evil nation". That pretty much sums up his entire steaming turd of a movie.

But Al Franken is a valuable resource for disgruntled Dems, even if he's shamelessly partisan. At least he takes a bold stand against lying, rather than making lies the centerpiece of his argument.
