Because no one is going to know what I'm on about!!

But tonight's episode of Red Rock..... Holy Mary Mother of God, that was the best hour of episodic tv I've seen in a long long time!

From the killer reveal to the twist at the end (which I half saw coming but then gasped out loud when I realised I hadn't!!) it kept me completely enthralled.... Just ( Read more... )

Never heard of Red Rock, BBC tells me it's an Irish crime drama, wikipedia calls it a soap - who's right? Not a soap person myself (other than the Archers by default, since my car radio is set to BBC4), but that sounds like splendid TV entertainment. It's such a great feeling if a show genuinely surprises you, and emotionally egages you so much that you're memesmerized whilest watching. A rare find to be treasured. It's only just started airing in the UK in July this year, so maybe I should give it a go....

This is one of those questions with a long-ish answer - Red Rock started as a soap, on twice a week for half an hour, but everything about it (gritty storylines, acting, production values) screamed crime drama.

So now the new series, which started last Monday, is on for an hour, once a week, at the new time of 9.30pm (so post watershed) and its firmly gone to crime drama.

It's an absolutely brilliant show, consistently comes up with brilliant twists (although they outdid themselves last Monday!!) You should definitely give it a go!!

Most my LJ replies never make it from my brain onto the computer. There should be an app for that. ;)

I would have to binge watch the frist season, the 30 min format irks me - just not enough time for proper story development. I'll ear-mark it, though the new TV season is nearly upon us (Lucifer is back tomorrow!, so this will have to go on the ever-growing waiting list. My day needs more hours.
