You're braver than I am, though I'm more a crocheter than a knitter. Received 2 skeins of black laceweight and a pattern in a swap and have been terrified to even look at it

LOL I've been wanting to try laceweight for a while, so it was only a matter of time, and then I got some laceweight in my kit and the perfect project just fell into my lap to try a small bit on! LOL I think that the crochet pattern I got in my kit (to go with the laceweight yarn) will work up MUCH faster than this knit bit. And actually, I think just working the pattern through the first time was the hardest bit. Now that I sort of understand how it works, it's not so hard to keep my place in reading the pattern. I AM still a little intimidated, though, by the lace patterns that use charts...but I'll get there! :)

Did you love the movie? I saw it a few days ago. I heard some ads for an Imax 3-d version, but it isn't in my local Imax yet, and who knows how long it will take! I was in England years ago, and loved it too. Everyone was so friendly and nice.

I still haven't finished ripping it to shreds (whenever I watch a movie based on a book, I rip it apart first, mutilate it and demean it for not following the book) so I can appreciate what was shown...and that's not likely to happen until after my husband watches it, which will hopefully be this week...LOL

I think the friendliness is one of the things I love most about the UK (as I noticed it was very friendly in Scotland as well as England). In Italy they're...well..."aloof" is the best word, I think...LOL

I'm happy that you're getting into lace. It does go slowly at first, but once you get the hang of the pattern repeats down it goes faster. Wait until you stretch out and block your project. Magic!
