My senior helps out with one of the columns in 早报 and what she wrote wasn't accepted because "its too cheem". That reason is plain bullshit. She posted her article on renren (the chinese facebook) and there were tons of Chinese who agreed with her. It is just evident that local news are trying to "accomodate" Singaporeans standards by picking up random news that will gain viewership but have no value in them at all.
I do agree that our generation is going down hill, news reports of kids being proud that they punched their parents in their face though are cases in extremis but definitely, not something we will hear about in the past. Just so scary to think about our kids in the future. What if we expect something from them, and they say: MY FRIENDS ARENT DOING THAT? What can we do then?
