I'm so glad you like them, darling! And yeah, I miss you too and I wish that there were a way to transport you for a bit to Damascus. Have tea and dinner with me? Maybe some Lebanese wine after? Will craft a long overdue email soon and update you on all my latest adventures. Would love it if you could do the same, especially post-summer camp stories. Much love and light, Ellie

If anything, Ramadan is about soaring over temptation and understanding the value of waiting and temporarily sacrificing one's appetites. That's because the most beloved virtue of this blessed month is patience, or sabbar in Arabic.
Deprivation is not an attitude associated with Ramadan. Rather, it's about learning to wait, savouring the minutes, and subsequently enjoying the bounties of life and family and friends. And there is truly a moment for everything, once we learn to appreciate what really matters.

That really appeals to me.

and my stomach is now growling at the thought of lentil soup *grin*

Yes, the local version of lentil soup is one of the most delicious that I've ever had. They grind it after cooking, a-la split pea soup. Not to mention that they put saffron inside as well. Mmmmm, I'm hungry as well but I have to wait for 2 hours when I go over to my friend's cafe to break the fast . . . Much love Trisha, E.

... but don't believe the salavating, because I'm not jealous!

A week from today, Joana and I will be making mountains of dahl baht tarkari for a Nepali-style dinner party :-)

We did meet in Kathmandhu, after all :-)

Ellie,

did you somehow forget to delete your msn profile from a public computer at the netcafe? Been corresponding with some bloke in Arabic and incoherent English who is somehow using your msn profile at a netcafe. It was weird!!!!

Hmmm, strategic corporal from Singapore -- your title sounds really mysterious so please identify yourself, my dear friend, especially in the current case of hijacked net identity. ;-)))) Yes, it is true that some nasty dude has hijacked my MSN and simply refused to let go. Not only that but I'm getting crapping love letters in Arabic daily . . . I have no idea how to make this nasty guy log off or delete my MSN login. Any suggestions?

Have you tried resetting your password? (that is if it is still your password)Looks like this guy really has the hots for you, he seems to be online everyday without fail masquerading as you. You could give the bloke a chance and find out who he really is. Keep your friends close, and your adversaries closer. Can't win a war without knowing your adversary intimately. Who knows...he might be a really decent guy worth 1,000 camels and 500 Arabian whites.

p.s. How many strategic corporals in Singapore do you know! I'll be really disappointed if you can't figure out who it is.

Well, let me think. Does this strategic coronel have something to do with the Malaysian insurgency? And is he a good and dear friend with whom we used to go jogging once in a while? Btw, I might be coming to study with you, if things work out. Many smiles, E. ;-)
