Although they haven't had too much of a chance to interact yet, Heihachi formed a very positive first opinion of him. Lavi proved himself brave by coming all the way down to the bottom of the ship while it was sinking, and proved himself trustworthy by carrying Heihachi's message back to the top. Heihachi really wants to get to know him better, and feels ever-so-slightly responsible for his well-being so expect him to be dropping by the infirmary with that rice basket any day now.
LITERALLY? 8| Oh god, you make me do the long and complicated one already?
AHEM. Heihachi's very much a 'follow his feelings' kind of person, and his very first feeling on Gorobei was 'I'm going to like you!' This really hasn't changed much in all the time they've known each other. He really likes Gorobei's style; laughing in the face of death and having a good time in dire situations. He'll cheerfully agree to any of Gorobei's schemes because most of them are intended to get other people to laugh or smile, and this fits very closely with Heihachi's burning need to do good deeds.
Gorobei can be a little inconsistent and over-the-top, but Heihachi trusts him fully with any secrets they might choose to divulge between them because he also senses something of a kindred spirit in Gorobei. He knows the man has a past that's painful enough to be hidden under a flamboyant mask, and he respects that Gorobei tries to distance himself from who he was which was one of the reasons he choose to ask about the future instead. He's decided that he'

Heihachi thinks Souji is the very best mechanic partner he could ever have hoped to have! 8D Current crisis aside, I totally imagine them pairing up to whistle while they work and babble along about fairly inconsequential things while having a grand old time. Even despite the occasional bout of sickness, Heihachi's never felt that Souji hasn't been living up to his expectation because he works so hard the rest of the time.
Souji also inspires him to work harder, which is not a bad thing except when the ship is kinna exploded. 8/ Heihachi likes doing things that he knows other people will appreciate, and with Souji this is both 'fellow mechanic will see I'm doing a good job' and 'I'm doing this so Souji doesn't have to and can get some more rest at Hijikata's side'.
Clearly, they are both going to need someone to smack them into not overworking themselves. The 4423 should be grateful to have such dedicated (and cheerful!) mechanics.

Heihachi is extremely fond of Naoto. She reminds him a lot of Kambei, all sensible and serious, but since she's closer to his own age he's a little saddened to see her so jaded already. He wants tto try and crack her demeanor a little and see what she's like when she's more relaxed - possibly by taking her out on a perfectly platonic dinner and seeing what he can talk her into in the name of fun. Like Kambei, he figures she'll need a little help in opening up, and he's happy to be the one to do it. ;D
Haha, I fear to see how Heihachi and Gorobei would be like if they teamed up on this whole "Make Naoto Smile" project.
...rather terrifying imagery, actually. :|
Naoto really appreciates Heihachi for what he's done for her. He gave her one of the very few leads she ever had on her target, and it really means everything to her. Maybe it's not by choice but for the time being, she's putting up a front because she can't afford to let it drop. She's already lost so much.
..but I honestly believe that if there is anyone in the game so far who could help her open up, Heihachi would definitely be one of the few capable of it.
Just wait until we get started on the dresses. ;D We will make her laugh somehow!
Heihachi really wants to see her suceed. They're both on a sort-of simmilar path to redemption and by helping her, he's helping himself, though for the most part he just wants to ease her pain some. He'll respect her boundries and probably won't ever broach the questions of 'why' she's doing what she's doing, although he hopes that some day she might trust him with that.
