my weekend with Jason Dohring
Well, I didn’t exactly spend my entire weekend with him but close enough. Hee. Another reason why I wanted to do the recap today was because I knew I was going to be there again Sunday. I thought I’d just do one recap entry for both days. So just a warning, this is a long entry (I’m not kidding!) and not dial-up friendly. :)
My sister and I went to the convention on Saturday, very excited and giddy. We got there just in time for the photo session. We lined up and waited patiently. We were hoping that we’d see him go in. When the time for Jason’s photo session came, we were asked to move the line closer to the entrance. And who do we see? Jason already waiting inside. My sister and I wondered where he entered. Anyway, I got so excited but I wasn’t sure if I can take pictures from the outside so I whipped out my camera phone. And then suddenly, he looks out and saw us! He smiles and even poses for the picture (the girl beside me had her camera out). You know what I did, I froze. Stupid, stupid me. I was suddenly self-conscious that I ended up not taking the picture. It would have been a great picture, too. :( Heh. Anyway, he stayed there but he wasn’t looking at us anymore. But he was there, so I just went ahead and took pictures (with my camera this time), hoping he will look our way again.
I think he sensed us because he looked our way!!

Heehee. So we had our picture taken with him after that. Mine turned out alright. Oh, it was also this time when I was first subjected to his stare. Omg, you guys weren’t kidding. It’s hard enough to look at him because I was nervous and shy and then he looks directly to my eyes! Hee. I just kept smiling the entire time. I even had the guts to put my arm around his waist. Haha. *dreamy sigh*
Anyway, we went to the talk after that. I’m going to talk more about that later on to include the things from today. For now, enjoy the pictures from the talk on Saturday. I’m not even going to try do a commentary on the pictures. All I can do is stare at them, really. lol
So after the talk, we headed to downstairs to check if we can pick up the pictures. They weren’t ready yet so we just decided to line up for Jason’s autograph session. There was some confusion with the lines but it wasn’t a big deal since it’s a small convention so everyone who wants to will get a chance to meet Jason. I had him sign my Season 1 DVD of Veronica Mars while my sister had him sign the picture I bought from the Dealer’s room.
He asked me which marker I think he should use (silver or black) and I said silver was fine because he was holding it already. He was about to sign it with the silver marker and said, “Naaahh, I don’t think..” So I said something like he can use whichever marker since I don’t really know. Haha. I wanted to talk to him more while he was signing this but of course I was tongue-tied. Gaah.
When I was looking for a picture at the Dealer’s room, I insisted on buying a picture that’s from Veronica Mars although the picture they had from Moonlight looked better. I don’t really know why it mattered to me. It’s Jason. Heh.
After that, we headed home (well, we watched a movie first). We were in cloud nine. I know I was. If you enter our room, you will see our photos with Jason plus the autographed one on display. I call it our little Jason shrine. LOL
Oh yeah, I also have pictures of Gareth David-Lloyd, which I took while we were in line for Jason’s autograph. It’s especially for nightcomes. :) They’re not all that great, though. But he’s cute! Heehee.
Oh man, I took hundreds of pictures today. Literally. I went crazy during the talk. But before that, my sister and I went to his autograph session again (we skipped the photo session) and had my Seasons 2 and 3 DVDs signed. My sister convinced me to wear my VM FBI shirt (from Glarkware) today. I didn’t want to wear it yesterday because I was too shy and it might draw attention to myself. But I’m glad I wore it today. When we were in the line, we knew we wouldn’t be the first ones to go to Jason because I saw these girls ahead of us with the Season 1 DVD. But I think they got confused with the lines that we ended up being the first ones!
It was so exciting. Jason saw my shirt and he lit up and said, “Your shirt! That is so cool.” I was still very nervous so I just smiled. I also still had to give the money to the lady beside him (besides Lauren, who was sitting on his left side) so I did that first then she gave him my DVDs for him to sign. He said hi and I shyly said hi back. He remembered me from yesterday and he mentioned that. I think I just said, ‘Yeah.’ I know, *face palm*. Anyway, he signs the Season 2 DVD and said thanks. I gave him the Season 3 DVD, which he didn’t realize was mine too. Lauren also told him that it’s for me too. Before he signs it, I gave him the pen I had made a few months ago (the idea to give the pen to him just came to me last night). He takes it and read what it says. He goes and says, ”This is so cool!” He seemed to really appreciate it and that made me sooo happy!
I have no idea what I was saying to him here. Heh
See, even Lauren approves! Haha
While he was signing the last DVD, I asked Lauren how she’s finding Toronto (or something like that, heh)and she answered, “Very good” the same time Jason said the same thing, head still bowed down and signing the DVD. He then says, “Oh, her”, meaning “oh, I was talking to Lauren, not him.” This made me laugh and I said, “Oh no, you too.” Then I went on and asked him the question I’ve been wanting to ask since yesterday, if he has talked to Enrico while he’s here since I think he’s here shooting a show (this may be what I was saying to him on the second picture above). He said, “Yeah, I actually talked to him last night. I’m only here for two days but yeah, I still got to talk to him.” Later during the talk, he added that he said that Enrico said that he (might) come and line up but he didn’t see him. He said he would have turned him away, anyway. lol.
So that’s my personal encounter with him today. I was over the moon after this. I actually got to talk to Jason!! Heehee. Oh, and here are the DVDs he signed:
Then there’s Sunday’s talk. There were better questions this time and I also got better seats. So on with the pretty!! :)

Okay, about the talks. I know I said I’ll do a recap of the talks last but after writing all that, I seem to have forgotten a lot of the things from the talks. Heh. I should’ve written them down earlier.. Sorry! Anyway, here’s all I can remember for now:
- He still keeps in touch with the rest of the cast of Veronica Mars. He still keeps in touch with Francis, Ryan and he would text Kristen to ask for (career) advice.
- He talked to Rob about a recurring role that he might do in one of the shows he has for the fall
- He started auditioning recently and he almost got this part, which he said was really good. So that’s a bit of a sad news. But he said he’ll probably have something soon. He seems confident enough so I guess that means we’ll see him again, may it be on TV or even in the theatres!
- He said he’d be open to doing theater, even a musical. Although for a musical, he has to undergo some training. Oh, he also mentioned that he can sing! Or that he thinks he can sing. He declined to sing, though, when someone asked him to sing a line or two. Heh.
- A lady, before asking a question, mentioned that she hasn’t seen Veronica Mars because she thinks that she’s too old for it (to which I say, “No! That’s not true!”) and Jason did this gesture where he shoots the lady using a shotgun (or is it a rifle?). He did the sound effects too! He was so adorable. I’m so bummed I didn’t catch it on camera.
- Someone asked him to share a convention that he found memorable and he answered the Marsathon in Austin, TX
Umm that’s all I can remember.. Maybe I’ll remember more things after I get some sleep. :)
