Petrarch is getting to me

I think this is the earliest in the year I've ever started applying school to...everything.  I've been reading Petrarch's poems for Continental Lit, and apart from the obvious Dante comparisons (Laura's actually in heaven, beckoning him upwards!  Come on, Beatrice did that ages ago.  Find something new.), I've found something else of interest.  To ( Read more... )

That's cool! I never noticed that. Did you notice that that was the Troilus one as well?

Was it? Cool. I know Troilus's song in Book One is based on one of Petrarch's sonnets (132), but it's a different poem. Where does this one come in in the Troilus?

Ooops sorry, you're right. I was thinking this was it because we read a version of this one in Brit Lit as well, but it was just a translation that one of the poets that we read did. I can't remember who it was now.
