So I was just watching ellen, and then I watched a commercial bashing gay marriage. I'm still quite angry about it because I feel that most people just don't know and don't want to change something if they aren't affected

I saw that commercial too. It makes me sick. Of course other people are welcome to express their views, but when you pay thousands of dollars to enter the public domain and encourage blatant discrimination...
Anyone should be allowed to have whatever opinion they want, and put up the money to express their opinion in whatever way they want, provided that that way is not harmful to anyone (the public has a right to be protected from harm, not a right to be protected from being offended)
That said, the government should never have the right to restrict the un-harmful behavior of a minority purely based on the opinion of a majority. The main argument I've heard against gay marriage is that "two same-sex parents aren't good enough to raise a child", but I have as yet not heard of any evidence to back this up. There is no support for bias against gay marriage other than religious belief, thus the government should not be allowed to restrict it.

to the whole raising of the child thing, there are actually statistics ( i read them in the State Journal so I'm assuming that they're accurate) that that statement is blatantly false. As a sidenote, I really like how the state journal has been writing articles about very controversial topics and keeping it objective by bringing up both points and then breaking it up. It's factual and not just all opinion. :)
