The arrival of the rental Silent Paint Remover on Tuesday evening was greeted with much excitement. By now most of the staircase is mostly stripped of paint. "Mostly" because, as cautioned by the sales rep, the gadget works best with many layers, and we've got only 3, but it's still a huge improvement over chemical stripper. A well-known phenomenon--you start what you think will be a relatively simple task, but pretty soon you find yourselves re-inventing the world!

Thank you for adding me to your list likewise -- and I'm so glad you decided to de-lurk on the community!

Paint stripping -- groan -- I just today saw that the kitchen windows are oak as well under the paint. That will become part of my next (and final) home improvement project, redoing the kitchen.
