Well, if you do decide in replacing the unit... you can recycle the old iPod for 10% off a new one at the store. Or, I can help order one for you, which I'd gladly do, at 15% off, so about $211 before tax on an 80 GB classic.

Unfortunately it is the nature of tech gizmos to eventually crap out on you. I'm still glad that you enjoyed it for as long as you did though, it was kinda cool to be able to pull together and get something that nice for you. Anyway my advice would be to just go ahead and get a replacement, one of the newer models. I know you like rezurecting older machines, your PDA was a mericale of attentive patience and technical genius, but when its going to cost more than a new unit its time to say goodbye. And besides you can always do something cool with the old one, say turn it into some kind of case mod for one of your towers or something.
