i took a history of chinese philosophy course my last year at CU in which we studied mostly confucius' works and taoism. confucius seems a bit too tradition/family-bound, which is less fulfilling when you consider tradition a mere "husk" of faith or religion or what-have-you (as espoused by the Tao Teh Ching). I've read at least 4 different translations of the TTC, and that book has had a bigger impact on my daily life than perhaps any other (possibly surpassing the Bible). I dont know that I'd ever call myself a Taoist, but it does provide something that other pursuits have not.
