GUESS WHAT I FOUND!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, so I’m on the annual Hufflepuff meetup, and while I don’t normally think a lot of it, here’s a quick and dirty summary so that you may all be educated. Basically, we all meet up, make each other buy our school books (and I maintain that Megan’s method to get me to buy my potions stuff was cruel and unusual punishment), split up to talk about ( Read more... )

Merlin, Zach. You do get carried away about your broomsticks, don't you?

But, but, it's...utterly brilliant! It's...I don't think I can explain it, but easily the best broom I've ever seen. I'm not sure if I can explain it to someone who doesn't like to fly, but...yes. Best thing I've seen and wow, I want it so bad.

Well, I'm glad you've found something you like, at least.

I'm babbling, aren't I? The guys reckon I am, even though the broom's more than worthy of my admiration, because wow. Really.

I'll get over it in a few hours and be my sober self once more.

Oh wow there's a new broom out? How did I miss that? What colour was it? Was it a long stick or a shorter one? because I heard that a longer one was going to be on tehir next model, or at least I think I heard that. Does it have the new foot-braces on the bottom because I heard that there might be a new design for those and they sounded really cool!

And thanks for the...um...other help.

Oh, it's a longer one, about two inches longer now, although it's far slenderer than the previous models. It's a whippy little thing, and the foot braces are refined somewhat but not as much as I would have thought, so they might need to improve that next time.

Not a problem. Wayne's just a bit...persistant.

Oi, I wasn't crying! And she's not scared of me, she's just intimidated. I would be too, nothing to worry about.

I'm sure you weren't. I was only imagining it. Yes, that's right.

I'm intimidated by your scary behaviour, and it's not directed at me either.

I'd ask why you refer to your broomstick as she, except that would lead to you staring at me blankly because it would imply that you could call it he and that would be even more wrong (if such a thing is possible), but why use gender specific pronouns at all?

How often do you fly, Lupin? Once in a blue moon...wait, sorry, it's just a saying. Anyway, it's not often, is it? Once or twice a year, something sad and tragic like that. But they're almost alive in a way, I suppose, and I dislike calling things that are alive 'it'. It seems impersonal.

Why the female pronoun, however? It seemed like a good idea at the time? It's not intended as an insult (which if anyone knew me, they'd know it wasn't), it's...well...I don't know. One of those things that make sense to you, but you can't explain it to someone else. An unalterable truth, if you will. And so...I don't know, really.

I hardly think tickling is cruel and unusual. Even if it was with a tickling charm.

Did you know your laugh sounds like a cat being stepped on? It's splendid.

What?

I've not stepped on a cat, so I wouldn't know.

My aunt stepped on one of my cats. It squealed bloody murder. So, I suppose you could say your laugh sounds rather like 'bloody murder'.
