So that all may know and to stop the questions, yes, I am perfectly aware that my left eye is swollen shut. I have come to this realisation because I am incapable of seeing out of it. Also, no, no-one hit me. Very simply put (although quite embarrassing, to tell the truth) I blacked out and smacked a door handle on the way down ( Read more... )

You should have just stuck with the stairs.

You don't need to keep stuffing food in my mouth. I'm fine. I told you, I'm always this skinny.

The stairs didn't seem realistic. But the hitting the door handle did, simply because that is what happened. Or what I'm saying is happened, but I'm not too sure that there's a difference, as reality is shaped by perception and I perceive that as having happened.

I shouldn't be able to see through you. That's a bad sign.

So, you're consciously forcing yourself into denial? How lovely.

You exaggerator. You cannot see through me. I keep telling you, I've always been like this.

Denial - it's not just a river in Egypt. A river which, apparently, I get to see over the summer. Maybe. I don't know yet. I haven't made up my mind whether to accept the apprenticeship or postpone for a year and see the world. Be a feckless, footloose traveller for a while. I've never done that before - it could be fun. But, you're right, in that no-one actually believes me, but if I said the truth, no-one'd believe that either. So I say what is expected and all are happy. Well except for those who do know the truth.

Look, just accept my concern graciously, would you? After all, with your mother and all, it's perfectly understandable. I just don't want you to get sick, is all, and not eating because you're too apathetic to do it is a good way to go about it. And don't think I can't see through the whole "my cat keeps me awake" schtick, because I can. You're going to have to sleep sometime.

I'm not good with the whole listening thing. In fact, I'm awful at it. But, yeah. You know where I'm going with this.

The doors of Hogwarts seem to have suddenly become sinister.

Right, because Hogwarts has been nothing but daisies and sunshine since we've been here.

No, in particular the doors. First Lim-Su-Li, and now Zacharias Smith. Perhaps we should all take care, if we do not want our own bits of black.

Are you waning, Aury Moon?

It cannot possibly be that bad.

And there is no excuse for you not eating. You will make Susan sick if you keep this up. So you will be at breakfast if I have to get you up by magic.

Zach, this is probably a stupid question considering what you've written, but are you feeling alright? You're obviously really tired, but you just looked sort of off in Transfiguration. Not off, exactly... I can't explain it very well, I'm sorry. But are you alright?

Off? How so? I was practically asleep in that class so that might have something to do with it. Oh, wait, that's right, that 'Aura sees auras' thing. Um, well, I doubt it's anything too bad. 'Cause I'm just behind in schoolwork, and stuff. So it's just a fit of melancholy, I suppose. Or internalised frustration that isn't helping the situation any. And Aury's going through a rough time, and I'm not good at that stuff. So that's probably just it. It's nothing really to worry about (me, that is. Aury's a completely different matter, and if anyone else sees it, please let me know, so I know I've not gone mad) so don't.

Am I alright? Yes. The tiredness is odd, however, simply because, as I reckon it (by using my fingers, sad to say) I'm sleeping something like thirteen hours a night. That is, on days where I don't have Astronomy. And because I'm not doing so much and sleeping so much, that's probably why I'm not hungry as often. But I'm fine, really I am. It's just a faze, I guess.

Sorry, I didn't mean to invade your privacy or anything. Lavender and I were just messing around with Divination at Lunch and I sort of forgot to stop, or something. It just seemed off, and I was worried, but if you're worried about Aurelia, that's probably it. Though, worry is generally different... I suppose it's just the greater deal of concern than regular concern. I haven't seen anything in Aurelia, sorry, but I don't think she'd really listen to me anyway, because I don't really know her that well. She'd probably just think I was weird.

Are you sure? Maybe you should see Madam Pomfrey, there might be something wrong if you're sleeping that much and are still tired.

Alright, spill. You're babbling. Get rid of your pre-conceptions. What did you see? And she wouldn't think you're weird. She hangs around with me, and everyone thinks that I'm disturbed. You've got nothing on that.

Nah, it's fine. I doubt it's anything sinister.

If the ink is bugging you, tap the ink-covered area twice with your wand and say non scripsi. It should remove it.

It didn't work. I'm hopeless with charms, you see. However, I now have the ink stains all the way up my arm instead. It's kind of cool in a very disturbing way.

In that case you'll need a very strong (and most likely slightly abrasive) soap and lots of water.

Yeah, I know. I've been doing this for a few years now. I'm just very reluctant, because half the time it's raw and sore for a few hours after, and I need my left hand (and the arm that it's attached to) because it's my dominant hand.
