I have discovered the relative joys of being sick. Well, not sick so much as recovering from being sick which I'm told is far more attractive than the strange bluish-white colour that I was just over a week ago. Anyway, I have learnt that Gareth, in a fit of pity I dare say, sent me up the final book in the trilogy I've been waiting for since ( Read more... )

Have you finished the book, then? I'm surprised you even stopped reading it for Ankaa, you looked so absorbed.

Yes, I have. And sorry for being anti-social, I just had to finish it. I've waited years for it (well, it seems that way) and it had to be read. I had to know!

And of course I would have stopped reading it for Ankaa! I haven't seen her in ages. Not to mention, she threw herself at me. That doesn't happen all that often, you know.

It is all right. I understand how important finishing a book is.

Ankaa throwing herself at you will be a much more frequent occurrance once you get out of the infirmary. I'm glad she only weighs a few pounds. If she were too much bigger, she would knock people over. She has amazing powers of flight for a kitten.

Yeah, Gareth keeps asking me why I wasn't Sorted into Ravenclaw, and while I keep telling him that I'm far too practical and goals orientated to be a Ravenclaw, he keeps looking at me as if I bribed the Hat or something. Which I so did not. I was eleven.

I have this interesting picture of a grown cat doing it. It's quite entertaining.

It's out? The book, I mean. Nobody told me! Until right then, when you did. Oh dear. And I had intended to do some studying over the holidays... now I'll be forced to re-read the others so that I'm refreshed when I inevitably get the third from Eliza for Christmas.

I'm glad that Richelle got to come and see you. She was pleased to hear that you were better. And I also glad to hear that you'll be coming back to classes on Monday. Freedom should definitely be savoured.

I...kind of wrote a summary of the previous two books. With annotations. And little sticky notes.

What? I liked them and didn't want to have to go and grovel to the guys to get them to bring over the first two books! But if you wanted to borrow it, you could. I won't be using them, I don't think. But if you wanted to read them, then I feel like an idiot now.

Yes, I got that impression. She informed me that I am a very stupid, inconsiderate boy, that if I ever do anything like that again she'll kill me herself and that it was just a silly game of Quidditch. Closely followed by her hitting me. Thus, a perfectly normal exchange. And yes, it is great to go back, even if I feel vaguely strange that I'm looking forward to going back to school. I think it's more the whole I'm not here business. Here sucks.

You wrote a summary? That's such a good idea. I would really love to borrow it, if that's alright. That way I could read the book as soon as I get it, so that I know how it ends, and then I can go back and read all three of them more slowly and really take it all in.

She hit you? My. Well, she was right, it was very inconsiderate of you to go and get sick and make her worry. She's very fond of you.

Sure! I was kind of offering, really, as I don't need to read it. Did you want to borrow the book as well? I don't think you'll do something like trash it, so it's all well and good.

Long story. You should see her twin. It's sad. Well, he hits her back and it's actually great fun to watch.

Ankaa's not getting fat. She's just growing out. It's a perfectly normal process, you can't expect her to grow up and not out too. Besides, we - being the boys - are not in charge of the food. Just the treats.

No Quidditch? Ah well, I suppose it isn't an issue at the moment. Practices have been cancelled due to the snow. You should have seen the relief.

My. That would explain a lot. So. How long does she act like a silly little thing before you give her something? Because I have Theories.

Travesty! Just because I can't practice doesn't mean that the team can't. You know I'd be up there doing it. Well, if Pomfrey would let me, which she won't. Something about after the New Year. I'm trying to argue her down to Christmas. I'll keep you posted.

Oh, you know. Long enough.

I'm thinking of begging Madam Hooch to let us out at least once. The Winter could last long enough that we have to play in conditions like this. They nevre cnancel a game for weather. I mean, they've only done it twice in the history of Hogwarts Quidditch matches, or something like that anyway.

Oh. Five seconds then. You're indulging her penchant for attention seeking, you know.

I'm actually surprised that she has cancelled it. Have you managed to get some of the captains together? Wait, no, that wouldn't work in a million years. I'd write a letter, but she won't take me seriously at the moment. But really. We do need to practice in all sorts of weather.

Feel free to fire off questions at will. There are more assignments, coming to a four-poster near near you.

1. Why is it easier to transfigure smaller objects than larger ones?
2. Why does Professor Sindarin shudder every time I suggest that we start imbuing objects with runic qualities?
3. Why must Potions take over my life?
4. Why must Arithmancy have so much mathematics in it?
5. Why do people consider the Astronomy Tower an appropriate place to make out?
6. Why would I want to do an essay on defeating Dark creatures? Can't it be practical instead?

There. Six questions. And really, I can do without assignments. How did you get my Astronomy ones, anyway, I thought I was the only one doing it? Then again, it's dark and I'm tired most of the time, so there could be the entire house there, and I wouldn't notice.
