I really should stop biting my lip in my sleep. It's nothing serious, I just seem to have picked up a habit of biting through my lip while asleep and it's rather messy. And quite painful too -- mainly because how do you explain "I don't know how it happened, it just did"? There needs to be a book on that sort of thing, because I'd really like to ( Read more... )

No one would say anything if you'd just let me heal it, you know.

The Potions assignment isn't as bad as you think. I'll help you.

It's a lesson to myself. I don't know what I'm thinking, or rather not thinking, when I do it, and I'd like to know. While it's better than sleep-walking or anything like that, the idea that I'm literally chewing through my own lip is a little sick. I want to know why I'm doing it, and I want it to stop. So I'm hoping that if I do it again, the pain will stop me doing it. Maybe.

The fact that I was explicitly told by Snape in class that I couldn't ask for help from you does suggest that I can't. He was pretty clear that I couldn't, and I don't want to fail this. Not that I'm ungrateful or anything, I just don't want to fail.

Yes, well. It hurts.

I can't help you with the execution, but he didn't say anything about coming up with an idea. It really isn't as bad as everyone seems to think. At least he provided plenty of research materials.

That's an unfortunate side effect of having, quite literally, chewed your lip into mince. You'd be more worried if it didn't hurt, I dare say.

It is. It's horrible and I'm going to fail. Sure, it'll be in a blaze of...disgrace, but it's still a fail, and I hate failing. I can't let that Slytherin beat me, for one. I'd die of shame.

Adapt a potion? Potions brewing community? Oi, sounds beastly.

Sleepwalking is inherently worse, I'll grant you, although a lot less painful. Perhaps this is similar to when one gnashes their teeth in their sleep? I hear there are remedies for that, perhaps it can be expanded for this too...

Well, I suppose if I looked at it objectively, it's exactly like the Ancient Runes assignment. I don't want to look at it objectively though, as I know what I'm doing with Runes and haven't a clue at all with Potions. I don't know how I even got this far with the class. And I'm not panicking or being melodramatic, so don't suggest I am. I'm just being naturally cautious about the fact that I'm about to fail dismally.

I don't know what it is. I just find it annoying, especially when I wake up and I can't even speak because it's so mutilated. There's probably some deep-seated psychological trauma that's going to make me go out and kill you all or something. Or that I'm just anxious about the assignment work.

If you chew through to the other side you could shoot water out of it. That could be fun. Er, might be a bit painful though.

Not to mention rather hard to explain to Pomfrey when someone, convinced that I'm a vampire in training, drags me up to see her.

...is there such a thing as a vampire in training? I doubt it. But it's funny.

It could be a straw hole! No more messy fangs!

...I hope you know I just ran my tongue over my teeth to make sure I didn't have any fangs.

Never let it be said that we don't show concern for the welfare of our housemates. Seriously though, you should get it looked at. It looks pretty nasty.

Who said you were being melodramatic? Same person again?

Maybe I was just hungry in my sleep? It feels pretty nasty too, and tastes pretty bad as well. I really should stop touching it but it's like a car accident, or a scab. You can't. It must be something like that, although it feels really weird.

Yeah. It's getting really annoying and kinda insulting.

Have you been to Madam Pomfrey about it yet? You really should. I know she has designs, but she'll probably be able to fix it easily enough, and maybe even stop it from happening again. And you could try putting food next to your bed, in case you are just hungry. I'm doubting that's it, though.

I can believe that. He should really stop.

Okay, I'm doubting it is too. If I had to take a guess, it's anxiety. After all, two assignments that are looking to be the hardest things I've ever done, school in general, a war going on outside, it only makes sense that I'm a little anxious about things. I've not seen Pomfrey because I really don't like it in there. Bad associations or something, I don't know.

It's kinda annoying, but I'll deal. There's worse, you know.
