friday night was great, it was lovely to hear tyson and moroni and jasmine makin their joyful noises, and even lovelier to see so many people who mean a lot to me i'll miss you guys a LOT. if you want to keep in touch with me, add
Have fun. I want to see photos of everyone you convert (and I expect a tally and graphs and stuff when you get back). Also, I want to see a video of you converting someone. Not a video of you talking to someone, but someone being converted. Like, I want to see the transformation captured on video. Do they allow that? You guys should get your own camera crews that follow you around door to door (or hut to hut) and record you converting people. Yeah, I don't know. It'd be cool though. Do you have someone you're going with (they always travel in twos) or do you just meet up with people when you get there?
we generally don't see the actual conversion process, since it usually happens in private, during personal study and prayer and we'll have photos from baptisms, so don't worry about that. but there will be videos, oh what glorious videos there shall be. and MONKEYS! you should probably write stuff to me. or something.
i'll be assigned a companion once i get to the training center, and then to a senior companion once i get to India proper. it will be good
I was being facetious with the whole conversion process thing. I was just thinking about what it looks like when the proverbial eyes open and a person goes, "Oh my gosh, I'm mormon!" I haven't a clue what it would look like, so I thought it would be funny to see on video.
So as far as videos and monkeys go, you should know I expect at least one video of you eating monkey brains... out of a live monkey. Hey, when in Rome, do as the Romans do (a rule that applies to India, too).
I'll be writing to you. I say that to a lot of people, but never do it. You, however, refuse to use the internet for personal contact, and therefore force me to use printers, paper, and (worse still) the postal service, something I fervently try to avoid. How much time do you spend at the training center before leaving the country?
yeah, i expected so but hey. yeah, that's all i got right now.
i wonder if i'll get to eat some monkey brains. i heard of one missionary who was offered a goat's heart to eat, and he swallowed it whole. now THAT will give you some crazy indigestion.
and more like i refuse to disobey the rules! as if you'd go out of your way to make sure that you disobey an order ;)
it's like i'm dying. i'm getting all my affairs in order, making the preparations for when i'm gone, ending LJ and Myspace and Facebook email notifications. it's weird.
i expect to be at the MTC for only a few weeks, but i'll make sure the MTC address is posted on my mission LJ once i get it. and who knows, my visa might not be ready yet. we'll see.
ahhhh! i was in church today and i was like OMGSH JOSH IS A MISSIONARY WHAT THE FREAK?!
so i promise i will send you packages and letters and lots of nice things! you can't forget about me and i won't let you, because meeting you was pretty much the awesomest thing ever. so don't forget about me in india.
i am so proud of you josh; i know you're going to be such an amazing missionary. i'm pretty sure you were born for india.
