In Which I Don't Think Very Highly of Miley Cyrus

I was just reading an article about Miley Cyrus on the Comcast homepage.  It seems that she and her sister went to Outback Steakhouse, spent $70, and didn't leave a tip.  How rude is that?!  She makes $25 million a year, so she can spare $14 for the waiter.  While she may be privileged in that she can make a living off her music, there are some ( Read more... )

Urgh, that's so rude! It's bad for anyone to do that...but someone as rich as her...grrrr...I hate people like that!

LOL, never really liked her because I don't really like her singing. That's really sad that she doesn't tip the waiter - but maybe she still survives on her weekly allowances like some child stars?

It's not uncommon here to not tip (we have service tax (i.e. tips) on top of government tax and etc in the bill). Do you guys have service tax too?

Well, we have meals tax when you eat inside a restaurant. This just gets added to your subtotal. But it's common courtesy that when you eat in a restaurant, you leave 15% of the bill for the waiter. Usually it's nicer to leave 20%, but 15% is the minimum. If you have a really bad waiter, you'd only leave 10% but that's really rare.

But Miley refusing to leave ANYTHING is just ridiculous.

Maybe they should do it like us then. We have 5% government tax and 10-20% service tax (which basically is the tip for the waiters - so people won't forget). Any extra tips depends on the size of your wallets. :)
