I think everyone who writes should be aware of Sardoodledom, which I think is a great word.

Definition is:

Sardoodledom (noun) mechanically contrived plot structure and stereotyped or unrealistic characterization in drama : staginess, melodrama.

I will dig out some others for you, but a personal favourite is solifluction, which is a geological process...

That sounds like a bit of gadgetry from Classic Who *g* I can hear Four saying it - it would be a darn sight easier than 'humonculous' (sp)

There's a certain symmetry to those first two... Are you planning on learning them in pairs?? *g*

Not really... I found the first one, then aralias provided the second. They just happen to fit quite nicely!

dictionary.com delivers a word of the day to my inbox, but none of them have been terribly interesting so far.

I had to go and look up homunculus, I'm so embarrassed.

I only learned it recently, because I noticed a book titled 'Homunculus' in Waterstones and had to look it up.
