So Confused

Do I take the TA job at Baldwin HS, once I figure out what's going on w/ that (don't even know pay/benefits)? Do I see if that permanent sub job is still open in Babylon next week? Do I just sub if not and get into a couple of districts? I don't know!

I haven't been on this livejournal thing in awhile, but mine's on http://skipdawg.typepad.com in case you were wondering people...

Anyhow, your best bet is to get a more stable position in one district. Stability looks 100 times better than hopping around.
Also, at this point, take whatever you can get your hands on. If the permanent sub job is still up in the air, but the TA thing is a sure thing, call up Babylon and say "I have a sure thing over in Baldwin, and need to find out within X hours whether or not I have this position. If they can't give you an answer, then go to Baldwin. If they can give you an answer, weigh the benefits (both are stable, but which one gives me health/dental/better salary/location/etc)

Recap:

1)Pick the more stable job as far as districts.
2)Get the job before someone else does.

yeah, skip's got a point about stability...

take the damn TA job if you're offered it... and you know what? if you get offered the permanent sub job, there's nothing wrong with telling the high school that you've been offered a position at an elementary school that you really can't pass up. your degree is in elementary, your ambitions are, and that's what you should do. obviously, don't pass something up if you get offered it -- a girl needs health benefits and a regular paycheck -- but if you get offered something later on, don't worry about hurting anyone's feelings. if you have a good reason for switching midway through september (and "my career goals are in elementary school, and this is an offer I can't pass up" is a good reason), then your employer should and will understand.

good luck!

Thanks for the advice, guys. That's what I've been thinking. More later.
