Title: Just Like You

Pairing: Donghae x Kibum
Kibum clutched the tube in his hands, giving the older a questioning look. “What is this?”
Donghae gasped, eyes wide. “You mean you don’t know?”
The latter scoffed. “It looks like a sex toy.”
“It’s a glowstick, you dummy,” Donghae retorted, waving around his own. Gripping both ends of the cylinder, he bent it in half. With a satisfying crack, the glowstick was set aglow. “You want me to help with yours?” Without waiting for a reply, he reached over to grab the stick.
Their hands momentarily brushed, causing Kibum to look away. “Thanks.”
“You know, Kibum, the others miss you.”
Kibum’s throat and a lump formed somewhere, making the ability to speak nearly impossible. “I know.”
“The others miss you...”
What about you, Donghae? Do you miss me?
“You know,” Donghae continued cheerfully, oblivious to Kibum’s concerns, “I like glowsticks.”
“Why?” He rested his head on the older’s shoulder, trying to lull himself to sleep.
Donghae smiled to himself, tossing the sapphire blue tube from hand to hand. “They’re bright. They’re beautiful. They’re filled with hope and determination. They’re fun. When you’re with them, it seems to be the only thing that matters right then.”
No response.
Glancing over, Donghae realized that Kibum had dozed off. “Just like you,” he whispered, wrapping an arm around the boy, nuzzling his face into his hair. “I like glowsticks because they remind me of you.”
Kibum smiled in his sleep and shifted closer to him.
“You’re my glowstick.”
