Title: Two Boys Equals One Really Confused Henry
Theme: Glasses
Pairing: Girl!Henry x Yesung; Girl!Henry x Zhou Mi
:D I made Yesung a skilled boy in this one this time. :]
There are times when Henry’s just plain confused. She knows she’s got a major crush on Zhou Mi. A major one that hasn’t left her heart and mind since two years ago, when they were nearly “together.” It’s the closest she’s been to love for the first time in her life. All of a sudden, she found it harder and harder to get through to him; he was slowly drifting away from her reach, determined to bring up his popularity by hanging out with them. Not just simply sitting with them or talking with them, but also acting like them. Henry could find thousands of words to describe them: obnoxious. Disrespectful. Rude. Bitches. Bastards.
Henry didn’t want Zhou Mi to be one of them. Even though she rejoiced when Zhou Mi shifted back into his old ways, whispering words of encouragement in her ear; turning to look at her from an angle that made the sun highlight his designer glasses...
Don’t ask her why, but she’s got this thing for guys with glasses.
But no. Despite all those times, Zhou Mi just hurt her too much. Like the times he would just ignore her for the sake of his social status. All the times he responded harshly when she asked him a question around his friends. All the times he would leave her alone. Scared. Regretful. Heartbroken.
And pretty soon, he disappeared from Henry’s love life without a goodbye. He completely forgot about their relationship. She was just another classmate to him.
Henry thought back to all the times she charged, lamenting, into the other boy’s arms. The other boy. Sure, he wasn’t Zhou Mi, but he was better than nothing.
He was Yesung.
Henry often regarded Yesung as the quiet, adorable, little-brother-type, clueless boy in the class and once again, he had glasses. Dark-rimmed glasses that Henry thought looked good on any guy who wore them. Though he wasn’t anything special, Henry had to admit that his DDR skills were fantastic. So were his jump-roping skills. Plus, his amazing memory.
While Zhou Mi often failed tests to maintain his “I-could-care-less” façade, Yesung aced quiz after quiz. Though he had some low marks as well, Zhou Mi’s grades compared to his were nothing. Henry respected him for that.
Yesung loved to tease Henry about Zhou Mi, Even though, Henry thought with contempt, he was no teasing matter.
Yesung was the closest friend of the opposite gender Henry had. As revenge for his remarks whenever Zhou Mi passed by, she called him “her adopted son.” This never seemed to get to him though.
Henry heard rumors. Many rumors.
Rumors all saying that Yesung supposedly had a crush on her. Henry just rolls her eyes, as if it weren’t already obvious.
Yesung, with an indignant expression plastered on his face, had muttered an, “I do not!”, contrary to his flushed cheeks. He fixed his glasses, as he always did when he was embarrassed, and huffed, crossing his arms across his chest.
Henry never thought she would see him as anything more than a friend. That was why she questioned the tiny, tiny jump in her heart whenever he laughed, whether it be with her or at her.
Henry never gave up on Zhou Mi, though. Never. Maybe those glances he gave her every now and then meant he was trying to tell her something. She couldn’t deny the pain she would feel every time she was near him, and all the feelings just came rushing back.
Right after the Social Studies test. Two minutes left of the period.
Yesung and Henry, as usual, had completed their exams and handed them in with time to spare, as well as some of their classmates. Yesung was conveniently located in front of Henry. Previously, Zhou Mi was seated right next to Henry, but unfortunately, he relocated to somewhere towards the back of the room, where the rest of his clique sat.
Henry fiddled idly with her pencil before she found a rubber eraser tossed onto her desk. Looking up, she was greeted by the grinning face of Yesung. Eraser notes, or as she called them, was their own way of communicating after the remaining time of a Social Studies test without actually exchanging words. The teacher didn’t mind at all - at least they were done and weren’t disrupting anyone.
“Are you sad?” the eraser read in Yesung’s impossibly messy handwriting.
She shook her head in response. Why would she be sad?
“Are you sure?” Aish; this boy. He worried too much. She repeated her previous action.
Henry glanced back up once again and tried to ignore that small, almost indecipherable tremble in her heart as she gazed at Yesung’s smiling face.
Henry’s at home, puzzling over the topic while seated by the computer under the cover of doing homework. The loved, she thinks to herself, or the best friend?
