I do not love my apartment complex at all. It is very convenient though, both in location and in the fact that everything I own is already here, and I am not in any mood to move at the moment. For these reasons I renewed my lease for another year yesterday. While I was at the rental office signing my new lease, I informed the manager that I ( Read more... )

call the BBB and see what they suggest. You should be able to deduct a reasonable amount of rent from each month it wasn't fixed. Do you have any dated letters from when you contacted them? If not, you still probably can get something for it. I would give them a letter and put that little CC on the bottom to the BBB. then copy them.

oh, and I have a baseball bat if all else fails, heh

I'm unclear whether the baseball bat is to be used on the faulty oven, or the apartment manager. Or both. :)

Thanks for the advice about the BBB, I will definitely be checking with them in a week or two if this isn't fixed.

actually, you can see if your complex has any complaints that have been filed with the BBB at this time, or any previous ones and how they were handled, and if the customer was satisfied. Since I've been a home owner, I've checked companies I hire with the BBB before I hire them. (plumbers, electricians, etc.) the BBB is a great tool.

I'm not sure how to sabotage the oven, since it is already broken. I mean, I could make it even more broken, but I don't think they would care.

The worst part is that I've had this killer recipe for a sort of baked eggplant hotdish for several months now, and I can't fucking make it because of these assholes not fixing my oven. I've been living on microwave foods and things that come out of cans, and I'm starting to get pretty damn sick of it all.

I am very good at breaking technology, and would love to fully break the machine in an interesting fashion. It would be totally unlinkable to you.

What did you have in mind exactly? Because if the oven is fully broken and doesn't work at all, I get a brand new one.
