“Tim?”
Even though he’d been already dozing off to sleep, Tim was wide awake at the way his lover had said his name. He opened his eyes slowly to cast Tony a glance, who lay next to him, his head resting on one hand, his eyes dark in the dim light of the bedroom. The little light in the room was offered by an old lamp on the nightstand, and it outlined Tony’s frame.
From Tim’s angle it almost looked like he was glowing; and once more he asked himself what he’d done to deserve someone like Tony, someone so completely different from him, someone who could pass easily as a movie star with his million dollar smile and winning attitude. But whatever made Tony fall for a geek like Tim - he was thankful for it.
“Yes?”
Tim turned to look at him, enquiring. Just now, Tony would have loved to say “Forget it” and fall asleep immediately, but he had started, and he knew that he’d have to go through with that now.
“Did you-“
He stopped, but Tim’s enquiring gaze was still lingering on him.
“I mean, have you ever imagined…”
Again he stopped to take a deep breath. They had never talked about the topic, though the agent knew both of them had thought about it, more than once. Still, he was in unchartered waters, and had to make his way up to his request slowly.
“…ever imagined the look on Gibb’s face when he’d find out?”
The Italian tried to smirk, but even in the dim light Tim could see clearly that it was just faked. He had a fair idea what was really behind Tony’s question.
“I don’t know how he’d react.”
Tim replied, pretty much nailing down what his lover had been wondering about for quite a while, coming quite close to the burning issue on his mind.
“Tim, I - you - what I mean is-“
Tony wondered for a second when the hell he had had his brain exchanged with that of a 14-year old girl facing the school’s heartthrob, before he cleared his throat to continue.
However, he didn’t get the chance to, as the other man placed a soft kiss on his lips, silently understanding.
“I don’t want to hide anymore.”
Tony whispered, after Tim had pulled back, nodding.
“I want them to know the truth. I want to tell the world that I love you.”
He went on, looking at Tim. Whatever he seemed to be looking for, he seemingly found it; wrapped his arms around the other man and pulled him closer. Neither had expected their relationship to turn from quickies after work to a serious commitment, neither had planned any of this. But it had happened, and Tony knew it was the best thing to ever happen to him. He closed his eyes, tightening his embrace around Tim, enjoying his warm body close to his.
Yes, their coming-out would be hard. They were not only men, but co-workers.
Still, if there was one thing he knew, than that he could manage it as he managed anything - with Tim by his side.
