[this would be a certain grumpy old pilot standing in front of several things. one, his lovely giant airship, The Dreamcatcher. this was standing outside of its equally giant hangar, but she's not alone. oh no. Cid wasn't just sitting up there doing now. some may recognize the Skyrunners (hover motorcycles basically), only they're more pimped out ( Read more... )

[Lara is all right with this world most of the time but it doesn't mean she doesn't want to go home like everyone else. Plus those babies look like fun rides too. Hey Cid, remember your mechanic's hot wife?]

I've logged more than two thousand hours of flight back in my world. If you're still looking for experienced pilots, I'm in.

[yes he does.]

More experience the better. All I've been gettin' are kids who'll probably crash 'em before they even get off the ground.

[She chuckles softly]

I promise to take good care of your babies, Cid.

How do they handle?

Better than anythin' you'd ever ridden on.

Controls are simple and its completely loaded.

[She laughs]

Let me be the judge of that. [Because back in her world, she did got numerous occasion to ride pretty expensive toys. Though it's probably better she doesn't mention to Cid that she crashed some of those too.]

Any fire power?

[Not that she expects to run into trouble, but you never know.]

S'what I meant by it bein' loaded. Brand new technology, too. Got yer standard bullets and laser energy blasts. Still in the test phase, but they'll get the job done.

[She nods, her eyes growing a bit more serious. They're speaking a language she knows.]

How many rounds per minute?

[Okay, the laser here makes her eyebrow arch. Really? She thought that those things were only possible in sci-fi movies.]

You managed to find everything you needed to build those in this world?

About 200 was the most we could get her.

And you'd be surprised what you'd find. It ain't that this place can't do it-they just don't. Still a prototype anyway, and it's more like blastin' condensed dream energy out than a laser. [shrugs.] Just what the boys like the to call it.

Impressive.

[She listens intently and then her expression turns rather serious]

Why wouldn't the locals try to extend their technologies if they have the mean for it?

[Well, well, that's interesting information here]

Condensed dream energy? Really? How do you manage to harvest it? And how did you know about it?

[Old man, you are more knowledgeable than what she previously took you for.]

[that's a lot of questions, lady.]

I was one of the "lucky" ones pulled into some kind of alternate reality *&#@ this world pulled on us. Like that last one, but it happened last year. Was dumped in one of the researchin' facilities.

[snorts.]

Lookin' back, maybe I was one of the lucky ones. Was at least able to use what I learned now.

[yeah he's going to need another smoke for this.]

Seems like this world has some other type of energy runnin' in. Dream energy, so it's called. Apparently dreams give off some kind of energy and the folks here managed ta figure out how to use it. Don't ask me specifics, that wasn't part of my job. I was mostly set on how to use the damn things.

[Well, she's curious like that. She listens intently, her interest clearly showing. Finally, some good information about how this place works.]

That's incredible. And that explains a lot too. Like how we never have to charge our phones or how this place doesn't seem to have a power plant of some sort.

How much do you know about this technology?

smokesinspace June 25 2011, 21:54:21 UTC
Not a whole lot, but enough to get the basics down and try and figure it out on my own.

You know Cid, I'd be very interested to discuss what you've learn about this technology. Would you care to join me for a cup of tea later on when you have free time to do so?

[well you hooked him at "tea".]

Might as well. Could probably squeeze you in sometime.

[She gives Cid a satisfied smile.]

Do let me know when you are free to come, I'll have my butler prepare tea and biscuits.
