[The device flicks on to show a redhead leaning back against a tree, smoking against even his own judgment. He doesn't have many left, but he figures one right about now seems like a good idea.]Alright, so that map showed me this isn't really what I'm used to so I guess there's a few basic questions I've gotta ask. For starters, how many of you out ( Read more... )

[It takes a couple minutes for Matt's brain to wrap around the fact that L responded to him. He's almost surprised the man even recognized him after the years, but then again it was L.]

Yeah... Looks like it. How long have you been here?

[His initial guess would be a few years but there's really no proof that this place actually is some sort of twisted afterlife, so he can't be sure.]

[He raises his hand helpfully, but Fuji is never not helpful. Of course.] Some of us have, and it seems that a lot of us are aware of the video-game-ish setting. In terms of the differences, I figure it's something similar to how game developmental companies come up with sequels for games.

[Wistful.] They took quite a few of the old elements that worked and reworked them into the setting. You'll find that most things are similar.

I guess the biggest difference would be the influx of new pokemon. There're some new faces around here that are pretty interesting.

New Pokémon, huh?

[Well, that complicates things and makes them a bit more interesting.]

Got any idea of how many of them?

Mm, I'm not sure. I doubt anyone has captured all of them yet, but they're fairly distinctive.

Gyms, on the other hand, I think they retained the original number -- but I might be wrong. It's been a while since I last played.

So I guess the 'Gotta catch 'em all' aspect is out the window with the new additions. There were eight gyms in the original game, and then the Elite Four in the Pokémon League.

The first gym leader's Pokemon are about level 30, and it takes ages to train to beat him. [Scott Pilgrim is on giving advice with the world! Even if he is against people smoking.] And there's heaps of new species, as well.

Level thirty, huh? Guess they didn't want to make this too easy on us. Alright then, do you know what type he primarily uses or did they nix that advantage as well?

He uses mostly Flying-types -- but south of there, I've heard you can catch some electric-types. I didn't need one, though -- Knuckles and Mario totally owned that gym!

Flying, huh? I'll see what I can come up with, but that's good to know. Any idea about the others?
