You know it's bad when those of us ON THE SIDE OF A HILL in DECATUR (one of the highest elevations in the metroplex) get worried about the water coming dangerously close to the front door...
It was flowing down that hard last week. Lynette actually called me to see if there was anything I could think of to stem the tide. Good thing it petered out, cause there was nothing to do short of sandbags to help divert it.
Yeah, my parent's house is on the highest hill in Bedford- you can see the widow's walk from miles around- and their living room is flooding right through the concrete retaining wall because, even though we've got a french drain system that's working overtime, the neighbor's yard has poor drainage and is actually at a slightly higher elevation. so the ground is saturated and our house is apparently getting their runoff.
it's sunny and 116F in Vegas today-- I would send you all some of this if I could!!
My ear, back, knees, and head hurts. I'm a seriously moody bitch in desperate need of some sunshine.
What the market hasn't clobbered as far as housing sales, the weather has destroyed. We have tons of houses and models we can't even start or finish due to rain. It's all very frightening.
The state of my house is not too bad so far. The lake level is making me nervous, but it is a Corp lake so I'm just paranoid.
My knees bother me alot in the rain, as well as my sinuses. Ya know, I am an Earth sign, not a water sign. I want my sunshine!
As to water, I will give the developers of my division kudos. My house is actually elevated from the street. Our driveway slopes down. But mowing has been haphazard, and when you get fined by the city if it stays over a certain height for too long, it bites the big one.
