[Character name] Agatsuma Soubi
[Age] 20
[Canon] Manga Loveless
[Point in time taken from canon] Before having Ritsuka pierce his ears, when talking with Kio.

[Background]
Soubi’s parents were killed in an accident when he was eight years old. His mother worked under Minami Ritsu, who volunteered to take him on after the accident. Soubi didn’t like Ritsu at first because the first time they talked he insulted him. This changes over time though.

After a short period of being with Ritsu, The man figured out that Soubi is a blank fighter unit. He started to train him to become the perfect fighter. He whipped him to feel no pain so that he could become the best. He wanted him to be able to endure anything that his sacrifice would have him do.

Ritsu also took his virginity, which made Soubi think they were closer, but Ritsu only saw it as Soubi becoming more submissive. He wanted to keep him as his own because Soubi looks so much like his dead mother.

Soubi attended the school that Ritsu ran, called Shichisei Gakuen, as a child. It is there that he becomes a legendary fighter. He uses people’s words against them with frightening accuracy and is able to send his spells out faster then any other student the school has seen.

Soubi was eventually paired with Aoyagi Seimei when he is 17. His sacrifice, Seimei Aoyagi, was only 14 years old and had tricked Ritsu into giving him Soubi. Seimei’s true name is Beloved, and he carves this name into Soubi’s neck. This carving is turned into a dark mark that will never go away. Seimei told Soubi that because he was feeling the pain from the mark, that he was being reborn. Soubi gave himself over to Seimei fully, wanting to fully forget how Ritsu had controlled him.

Soubi went to a college after graduation from Shichisei Gakuen. He studied to be a Japanese painter. He isn’t very good at getting his work done, but people loved his work because of the colors and emotions his paintings showed. These loved traits were actually how Soubi expressed his pain though.

It is not said what year Soubi is in when Seimei is killed. The bond that connected the two of them was broken so Soubi believed that he was . Seimei left the orders with him before his death that if he ever died, then Soubi was supposed to become the fighter of Ritsuka; true name Loveless, Seimei’s little brother.

When Soubi first met Ritsuka, he was taken aback by the child. He was open and kind, everything that Seimei never was. Ritsuka didn’t even know about fighters/sacrifices. Soubi took pictures with him and gave Ritsuka his first kiss. It was that day that Ritsuka and Soubi were in their first fight together. Soubi fought as Loveless’s fighter, but took all the damage from the fight. He said Ritsuka wasn’t ready yet for things like that. Fighting against the mark made it bleed because he was not fighting against Beloved, and therefore going against the name. However, because of his training with Ritsu, Soubi ignored the pain with great skill and easily won. Afterwards Soubi tells Ritsuka that it was Shichisei Gakuen that killed Seimei. Soubi says that only he and Ritsuka can beat them and avenge Seimei’s death.

The next time that Soubi see’s Ritsuka is when Breathless tries to have Ritsuka come with them to Shichisei Gakuen. Soubi comes to Ritsuka’s side when Ritsuka calls him in his thoughts. Soubi is surprised by how strong Ritsuka is during the fight, being very brave. His power isn’t as strong as it was though and he kisses Ritsuka to gain back his purpose. After that Breathless is easily defeated.

Soubi gives Ritsuka a cell phone so that he can call him any time that he wants. Soubi isn’t sure that he will used it, but he knows that Ritsuka can be lonely and isn’t sure how to call him through a connection yet. That same night Soubi talks to his friend, Kio. They are both art students. Kio is a good friend but Soubi only wants him as a friend. Kio calls himself Soubi’s wife though. As they talk Soubi gets the idea that Ritsuka should pierce his ears.

[Personality]
Soubi is a kind person, but he hides most of it under his calm exterior and brash ways. He tends to simply roll with the punches when things get too much for him. It’s just how he deals with life. He doesn’t like to let people see anything in his personality that might be considered bothersome because he would rather not have to explain himself.

Since he uses words to fight, Soubi is well spoken and gets right to the point. People find the way that he talks abrasive, but he doesn’t see the point in changing the way he is.

Because of the pain and master/slave relationships that he has had most of his life, Soubi has very low self-esteem. He likes it when people get to the point and tell him what to do. He wants these orders to be from his master, people like Seimei or Ritsuka. Soubi doesn’t like ugly things, or things that don’t interest him. If it’s not worth talking about then he avoids or ignores it. Soubi is the type that can grow though. It is seen that he is able to see new ideas about people, and even change his mind about someone if he can see them in a new light. He likes and protects the friends that he makes.

[Abilities]
Before a fighter or a sacrifice are born, before they are even thought of, the children are given their true names, which is what they will find out later. The bond that forms between the two is incredibly powerful, and when they finally find each other, they are able to fight together. In battle, they have twice the power they would have if they were not together. The true names of the children can be found on their bodies, though as stated, it may take some time to find the name, or for it to show up.

When a person is found to be a fighter, they can be are sent to the Shichisei Gakuen. This is a place where fighters are trained to use their words in the best way possible. The sacrifices are united with their fighters later, though that is up to the pair when they do. They must find each other through the bonds of their true names. The bonds can be seen by others that are fighters/sacrifices as strands of glittering thread.

When the pair is challenged to a fight, the fight is a battle of words used as spells. The fighter uses the word magic to fight, while the sacrifice takes the damage. The fight ends when the sacrifice is completely bound, restricted or unable to take anymore damage. While the power of the fighter is important, the sacrifice is just as important; if the sacrifice is unable to take the pain that is given to them, then the fight is over before it begins. Both depend on each other; the sacrifice needs the fighter to protect him and the fighter needs the sacrifice to keep standing.

Soubi was named as a fighter, but was never given a second half which would give his name. Because of this, he is a blank fighter, one that has no name. It means that he can have anyone’s name written onto him, and he will become their fighter; a blank slate that can be rewritten if need be.

The name that was carved into Soubi’s neck by his first owner bleeds every time that he fights with Ritsuka because he is going against the name.

[Third Person]

Soubi walks down the road, uncaring that his umbrella has flown away. It’s cold, but he doesn’t feel it. He doesn’t need to feel it. .. But that really wasn’t true anymore. Soubi pulls a smoke out and tries to light it, but it’s not working. Huh, too much rain. He see’s the shack and heads right in. Sure it might fall down around him, but at lest Soubi can now light his cig.

Now that he has his light, Soubi inhales deeply. It’s nice, thinking about how he has something worth staying out of the rain for now. Ritsuka had been so cute when he yelled at him about staying dry when he was already wet. A rye smile spreads across his lips. This was a new kind of joy for him. He didn’t really know if he deserves this, but it’s not something that he can walk away from. He exhales slowly, watching the smoke trail around a little leak in the roof.

Hmm, he really has to get out of this shit place. Kio would say he is being stubborn, even Ritsuka. It’s just what he wants, another lecture about how he getting wet could make him catch a cold. Soubi flips idly through the messages on his cell at the messages from them as he flicks the ash away. He spots a bit of plastic in the ruble and pulls it out. Yeah, this would do. Soubi inhaled enough to finish the cig off and inhaled as he goes out. Of he goes to the next place.
