Awesome news. I totally dig the DC Metro. I think the NY subway could learn a lot. Like, how the metro stops are all nice and cool, whereas the NY subway stops are all hot and humid.

Even though we had the clocks in DC, we still stuck our heads out to see if the train was coming. It was pretty close but never totally accurate. And when it gets down to the one minute mark you want to strain to see if you can see or hear the train coming, just to make sure the clock isn't lying to you.

Well in New York, the clocks will be completely inaccurate at all times.

Robert Anton Wilson (ahave shalom) made the joke in one of his speeches that the Irish never have accurate clocks because they believe that time is a plot by the British to make them work more.

ugh... the times will still be goddamn wrong, you know that. This is a LAME effort to try to get trains running on time, if not to look like they are improving service. It's like spending money on something that guaruntees nothing... it should piss people off like it's pissing me off.

...but thanks for the heads-up... = )

Oh just wait until you see the inefficiency in action to get really pissed off. Else you blew your anger on a possibility.
